Chapter Seven

Melted and Softened

Embarrassed, I quickly moved away from him and went outside. Hindi ko na tinignan pa si Vie na nakatayo sa may pinto at umalis na kaagad. 

Damn it, I cursed myself. Why do I have to put myself in that situation? I mean, I think it's normal since we are practically in a relationship but letting my sister witness that? Nope.

I went to my room and sat on my couch. Hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko. I have plans for today but it seems like my mind is not in the mood to work. I just want to lay down and probably rest my mind for today.

That's what I did the whole morning. Humiga lang ako sa kama at nagbasa ng mga report ng mga advisor. This will be the first reading after all kaya pwedeng ganito ko muna basahin. I just need to go through this later on.

I stopped when I heard a knock. "You may enter," sabi ko. 

"Your Majesty, it's time for your meal. Would like it to be served with your His Highness?" She asked.

It took me a while to answer but I gave her a nod. Bumaba ako sa kama at lumabas na sa kwarto para pumunta sa dining area. There, I saw Sean waiting patiently at the table. When he heard my footsteps, he looked up and smiled.

"Hi," he said and stood up from his seat.

He dragged a chair for me and motioned me to sit down. "How was your training?" I asked when he settled himself in front of me.

Umiling siya sa akin. "Tiring," he sighed. "I never thought this will be difficult. It was way more complicated than I thought."

"You want to give up now?" I smirked at him and let the attendants place food on my plate.

"What? The training?"

I nodded at his question. "No," he answered. "I actually want to be of help to you in the future - as a King of this clan and as your husband, Blaire."

His words... it softened my heart. I don't why but his words made me happy. He was willing to go through all the hardships just to help me. He was willing to struggle just to help me. And he was willing to face every problem just to help me. 

How can he easily move my heart by his words? 

I have never encountered another man aside from my Kuya Vince and Father. They were my protectors, sort of. Kaya walang nakakalapit sa akin. It's to maintain my purity, they say. They knew I was bound to marry someone to balance the crown kaya hindi ako pwedeng madawit sa kahit kanino.

And I never bothered finding one, anyway. Hindi naman kasi iyon ang priority ko. I was more on strengthening my stability as the Princess of this Clan kaya hindi ko iniisip ang pumasok sa isang relasyon. 

But this thing with Sean, whatever I have for him... I am not naive. What I'm feeling for him is definitely different. I still don't know what it is and I don't even want to know what it is. I just wanted to enjoy his company and his presence. 

Isn't that his purpose anyway? To become an asset to the clan, might as well become my asset, too. I can't see myself falling in love with someone, probably because I am too fed up with the pressure around me.

So whatever it is... whatever this comfort and security I am feeling around him... it should not matter to me. Because I know, if I dragged him, he will be another weakness for me.

Ngumiti ako sa kaniya at angsmiula na kumain. Earlier, I don't have much appetite but I guess his presence warmed my mood a bit kaya ginanahan ako kumain. Iyon ang naabutan ni Vie kaya sumabay na din siya kumain sa amin.

Tahimik lang siya, probably still embarrassed by what she witnessed earlier. "You're dressed up," puna ko kay Vie.

I wiped my mouth with the table napkin and waited for her response. Tumango siya sa akin at uminom ng tubig bago ako sinagot.

"Uhh, yes. I already got their permission, don't worry. I just wanted to feel some breeze kaya ako lalabas. I'll be back in a while."

"You want me to accompany you?"

She smiled teasingly at me. "And leave your guest behind? Nah, I can manage. Besides, the field is not that far."

"It's beyond the walls, Aivie," I pointed out, in case it slipped in her mind that she will be leaving the Capital just to reach the field.

She sighed and looked at Sean, nanghihingi nang tulong. Sean looked taken a back from Vie's stare kaya napainom siya ng tubig.

"I... uhhh... think she can handle this, Blaire. Don't lock her up too much," Sean said, making Vie clap and excuse herself.

I looked at Sean who raised his hands defensively. 

"Sean, you may not know, no, you really have no idea how adventurous Aivie is. One minute she will stay on the place she mentioned, the next minute she will be gone. That's how adventurous she is."

Sean noticed the frustration in my voice that's why the expression on his face changed. He looked guilty kaya napabuntong hininga ako. "Look, I'm not mad, okay? I am just worried for Aivie."

"I already sent bodyguards for her safety. I know she have one but I just sent them in case," he said. 

Kaya pala pagka-alis ni Aivie ay lumingon siya sa butler niya at tumango. 

"Thank you, Sean. And again, I apologize for snapping at you."

He smiled and ate his dessert na inilapag ng attendants kanina. It's a cake and I find him cute, eating it with a smile. Looks like someone has a sweet tooth.

"Good?" I asked.

He nodded happily. Matapos kumain ay bumalik na kami sa library. This time, I decided to do my readings with him around me. I just think I am at ease when he is around for some reason.

"Ah... so I have to read these and you'll ask me tomorrow?" I heard Sean from the other side of the room.

"Yes, Your Highness. All of it."

I sighed and put down the paper I was reading on the table. Tumayo ako at lumakad papunta sa side ni Sean. The trainer immediately stepped aside when he saw me. 

At this rate, Sean won't be an effective ruler lalo na kung sa libro siya nagba-base sa lahat ng bagay. I started there but it took me a year to finally face the reality behind the books. Hindi naging madali pero mas lalong mahihirapan si Sean dahil kulang sa oras.

"Put it down," I said to Sean, pertaining to the book he was reading thoroughly.

He looked at me with confusion but still followed me. "What is it?"

"I will teach you, Sean, hear me?"
