Chapter Five

Chaos and Confusion

The whole Royal Family is in chaos after the voluntary dethronement of Elizabeth, Sean's younger sister and the Crowned Princess of the East Clan. Apparently, Elizabeth was accused of having an affair with Izaac, her brother-in-law. It was somehow... disappointing. 

I am not a fan of Elizabeth but hearing the accusation against her, tainted my image of her. Because I know, we were both cuts from the same cloth, that her act is immoral and disrespectful. 

It has been a rule, to never associate yourself with another man once you are tied. 

And her actions affected us all.

"Please rise for the arrival of the Highest Supreme," the voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I stood up and waited for the Upper Clan to signal us to have a sit. And when they did, we all followed.

It was quiet for a while until the Highest Supreme finally voiced out her opinion about the recent issue.

"It was sudden news, perhaps all of you, ladies, heard the dethronement of the Crowned Princess of the East due to her lack of faith and respect towards the Royal Family. I hope this will serve as a lesson to all of you here."

I looked down and nodded while the others vocally said their approval. 

"And since we are all here, why don't we congratulate the new Queen of the West?" Doon napaangat ang ulo ko at tumingin sa nangunguna sa amin. "Finally, the crown of the West has finally passed down. Blaire, dear, please stand up and show your face."

I slowly stood up and gave a tight smile. "I am Blaire Magdalene of the West Clan," I said. 

"Well, well. I hope you will be able to set yourself apart from the dethroned Princess, Blaire," she smiled at me. I hate her smile but I still responded by nodding my head. 

That concluded the meeting and I immediately left the hall. 

"Your Majesty, I was notified that Prince Sean is already in the venue hall of your coronation, supervising." Huminto ako sa paglakad para harapin ang nagsabi non. 

"What did you just say?" 

This is an unexpected move from him. I mean, his family is surely devastated by the happening right now so I don't see any reason why he would suddenly engage himself in our coronation given the situation right now.

The attendant repeated what she said and I immediately decided to see Sean for no reason. 

They were right when Sean... I mean, Ruzzel was supervising the preparation. He was pointing things which are not in order and sore to the eyes. I made my way towards him and stood beside him na agad naman niyang nilingon.

I kept my gaze on the table in front of us even when he spoke. "You're here," he said.

"That's the question I want to ask you. Why are you here, Sean Ruzzel?" I asked and faced him.

Siya naman ang umiwas nang tingin ngayon at ipinalibot iyon sa lugar. "I just want to be hands-on as well. I heard you already provided your insights."

"On a situation like this?"

He sighed and faced me. "Blaire, I know my responsibilities as your husband as I know my responsibilities as a son to our family. You don't have to worry about us, we're doing fine."

"I... I am not worried," I denied. 

He didn't say anything but he smiled at me bago humarap ulit. Napatingin din ako sa paligid. It's almost... finished. We're really getting married. I looked at Sean while he was talking to a man.

Getting married to Sean Ruzzel, I don't know if this will be a dream come true or a nightmare curse. Because once we get married, our future is secured but the relationship that we were just building will be affected.

I wanted our relationship to be like his parents, King Russel and Queen Selene. They were considered perfect rulers in the Royal Family. They just synch together in every way. I wanted it but I know it was near to impossible.

Sean and I... don't have that kind of connection. He wasn't born and trained to be a King. I bet this is was never his plan to suddenly have a crown on his head that could kill him or make him strong. The crown's capability is unpredictable.

That's why it's scary. I've always been scared of the crown but I don't want to show it to anyone. I want to be the kind of person who doesn't fear the crown but as a person who embraces the crown's thorns.

"What's wrong?" It was Sean and he caught me staring at him kaya umiling ako sa kaniya.

"Nothing important, Sean. Ah, I mean, Ruzzel."

"I wonder what is your definition of not important," he whispered while staring into my eyes. 

"Huh?" I asked but he just shook his head and excused himself.

My definition of not important? What does he mean? Sean isn't the type to pry on someone else's business, especially to mine. It was written all over his face that we should mind our own life even though we are married.

"Your Majesty," tawag sa akin kaya lumingon ako sa likod.

"Her Highness has arrived," nagtaka ako pero nakita ko ang pagdating ni Aivie. She looked shocked to see me in the place when I should be done having that expression.

Mabilis siyang lumapit sa akin at kumapit sa braso ko. I was still looking at her while she was smiling happily. Right. Why do I find it strange? She's Aivie, she has always been like this, snooping around and appearing without any notice.

Sa pag-iisip na iyon ay ngumiti na din ako sa kaniya pabalik. "Do you miss me that much?" I asked, teasing.

She nodded. "Hmm! That's why I came here and visited you," she said. 

"Shall we eat outside then?"

Tumango siya ulit. "Ah! I heard your husband-to-be is also here, Ate. Why don't you invite him as well so we can all dine together? What do you think?"

Napaisip ako sa sinabi niya. She haven't met Sean pa pala dahil umalis ito kaagad nung huling punta sa bahay. I guess there is nothing wrong with it. After all, she will be Sean's sister -in-law, it's only right to let them meet.

Pumayag ako sa gusto niya bago nagpaalam para kausapin si Sean. I just hope he doesn't have any plans.

When he saw me approaching, he met half-way. I noticed that he is a bit sweaty kaya nilabas ko ang panyo ko at tumingkayad para punasan ang noo niya. He stood still and I can barely feel his breathing kaya lumayo agad ako.

I'm sure I am not smelly...

"What is it?" Tanong niya kaya inalis ko sa isipan ko ang pagiging conscious. 

Huminga muna ako nang malalim bago nagsimula. "Aivie is here and - "

"Oh, she arrived. I didn't know, my bad. I even offered to pick her up," Sean said, confusing me. When he saw my expression, he explained. "Ah, Aivie volunteered to help in the preparation. It just so happens it matched my schedule, that's why I offered to fetch her. I lost track of time kaya hindi ko siya nasundo."

"Ah... but she... arrived safely..." I had a hard time composing a response. Naguguluhan ako sa nangyayari.

I am sure I haven't introduced Aivie to him and him to Aivie. How... how did it happen that they now have communication? That kind of connection? 

Nakahinga nang maluwag si Sean. "That's good to hear. Let me just greet her and stay for a bit before we go to the dinner that she mentioned."
