Truth

But of course, my wish wasn't heard.

As soon as we heard a knock, we pulled away from each other. Sean opened the door and like we expected, it was Kuya Vince who has a problematic face. Hindi ko gusto ko ang nakikita ko sa kaniya. I've never seen him this stressed.

"I am here bearing bad news for both you, Your Majesties," Kuya Vince said without any greetings. "You are both needed back in the palace immediately and I am here to escort you back."

Lumapit ako kay Kuya Vince at nagtanong. "You said you'll brief me about the situation. What is happening in the West?"

Saglit siyang tumingin kay Sean bago sumagot. "The advisors came up with an alarming rumor that Sean is having an affair outside the Palace. Even your sudden removal from the post has been dragged into this issue. They were speculating that your recovering was just a cover for your dismissal."

Pakiramdam ko ay sumakit bigla ang ulo ko sa balita. It was actually a believable rumor. The recent events were perfectly matched kaya alam kong mas mapapatibay nito iyon.

"The South still hasn't said any statement until now. The West cannot construct a response without your permission, Blaire. And... Dawn will be the target of the issue. Her connection with the North may be revealed as well as in the East. Dusk is asking for protection, Your Majesty."

We were all tied up... How come we reached this point? It's like there is no way out of this mess, either way, people involved will be sentenced... and people connected to us will somehow be a scapegoat of this mess.

This is really politics. If I want to gain something, I have to let go of something as well. Ministers and Advisors won't stop until they have someone to blame for this chaos and I'm afraid, so afraid, that Dawn and Dusk will be in danger because they have no one to shield them from any harm. 

The whole drive back to the palace ay tahimik kaming tatlo. Sean knew I was thinking about what I should do that's why he made his presence known by holding my hand and playing with the ring that I have on my finger.

Upon arrival, mabilis ang kilos ng lahat. I automatically headed to my parent's office to discuss my decision about the issue. For some reason, unlike any other day, I am positive on my decision. I have no hidden despair when I made this... it was like I made the right decision this time.

"Blaire," Mother immediately stood up from her seat and offered me the couch. My Father followed us and sat on his respective chair. They are both looking at me, waiting for my decision. 

"First off, Dawn and Dusk's name should be dragged out of the issue. They aren't involved. Let's not drag civilians into our issue. I want to clear that one first," I said.

My Father nodded at me. "But you do know that once you denied their involvement, they would result to another conclusion, right?"

"Yes, I am aware of that consequence, Father. However, despite knowing that, my decision will remain the same. De Guzmans are not involved, they won't be scapegoats and I'm not gonna let anyone use them."

'What do you plan to do then, Blaire?"

It was Mother and by the sound of her worried voice, I know she already had a hunch on what I would do. Tumango ako sa kaniya at nagsalita.

"Sean's reason of temporary dismissal will be brought up. Even though the South's statement was solid evidence that Sean was recovering, they will still try to dig deeper," I said and took a deep breath. 

"The accident will come into light, Mother. And Aivie's involvement will be revealed."

Napayuko silang dalawa sa sinabi ko dahil alam namin kung gaano namin pinaghirapan itago ang aksidente na kinasangkutan niya. But in my opinion, that is the only way out. 

"I am not selling off Aivie. They will probably ask to hand her over for her punishment, however, I would make a statement that we already did. We punished her according to customs."

Napatingin sa akin si Mama. "You are going to lie again?"

"No," I answered. "Sending off Aivie is my way of saving her from this but I also considered my position that time, Mother. I decided that in accordance with our customs because I know that one day, they would question it and I don't want her to go through all this mess."

"Will be that enough though? How about Sean's statement? They will most likely ask for his dethronement and annulment of marriage with you. What's your plan about that?" 

Natahimik ako at inalala ang pinagusapan namin ni Sean kanina. It is very timely. Parang pinaghandaan na niya ang mangyayari kaya inunahan na niya ito at sinabihan na ako. He prepared me for what is about to come.

"We... already talked about it and decided that he should be accountable for his decision. Technically, it was him who requested to leave the palace temporarily and he... wanted face the consequence of it... by himself."

"You mean to say, you... won't do anything to protect him? What if they ask for his crown? You will just let them take it away from him?"

I smiled at them. "I am hoping it won't reach that point but if it did... then that would be the time I would step forward.  Sean is my husband, Mother. Even if I have to go against our decision, I would protect his position."

My parents gave me permission to leave the office after that talk. I was literally dragging myself towards my room. I am that tired. A lot of things happened today, it was like a rollercoaster of events that I nearly forgot that I am pregnant and I should not be stressed like this.

Pagbukas ko ng pinto, I nearly stumbled down when I saw Sean... holding my pregnancy vitamins. It was displayed in our room because it didn't cross my mind that he would be coming home. I swallowed the lump in my throat and carefully made my way towards him.

He saw me and brought down the vitamins that he was holding earlier. Then he approached me and caressed both of my arms. "How is he?"

Nanlaki ang mata ko sa tanong niya. If I will play dumb, I will make myself stupid in front of him. Still shocked, I managed to come up with a response. 

"I think it's a she," I said, biting my lips.

Sean pursued his lips. "It's a he, I'm sure of it."

I looked at him and his eyes were gleaming with happiness. He looked so gentle as he held my arms. 

"Aren't you mad at me for keeping it as a secret from you?" I asked in a low voice. I was actually hesitating to ask him because it might ruin his mood but I just had to.

He leaned his head to his side, wondering where does my question come from. It was out of nowhere but we were talking about the baby... and I just felt like I should ask.

"Ah... the baby?" Inosenteng tanong niya. "Why would I be mad at you when we literally just met a few hours ago? I know you want to say it once everything is settled but things were hectic today and things were still messy."

"Right, and it will be messier tomorrow. Are you ready?" I asked him.

He nodded at me. "Yes, wife," he whispered before leaning in and placing a kiss on my forehead.
