Sean (Part 2 of 5)
Marriage
"Did you hear?" I stopped sipping on my rock glass and raised a brow at Rael. Whenever he asks like that, it means he has news for me. More like, he sensed a gossip and he wanted to share it with me.
He took my reaction as an invitation and sat in front of me. We were in the garden, late at night, because I wanted to enjoy a peaceful night... alone. But obviously, I cannot do that when my talkative brother is here to ruin the mood.
He cleared his throat and leaned in towards me. I remained in my laid-back position. "The Upper Clan sent a decree stating Elise's marriage with Evans!"
Kala ko naman kung ano.
I crossed my legs and sipped on my glass. Rael squinted his eyes on me kaya tumango ako sa kaniya. "I know, I was the one who received it earlier."
"And you didn't bother to tell me?" He accused.
I snickered at him. "If you know, what can you do then? Hmmm?"
His childish expression disappeared and it was replaced by seriousness.
If there is something interesting about Rael is that is ability to mask his emotions well... very well actually. His playful aura can sometimes be mistaken as his true personality. But it wasn't, he is just good at masking his expression.
Except when he is with us, his brothers. He is open to us but he is very closed off to our parents.
That's why I know he is worried about Elise. "Don't worry about Elise," I told him, to atleast pacify his worries.
He sighed. "What will happen to her now?"
I merely gave him a shrug. I don't know, that's the truth. Whatever the future holds, it's something we have to discover. But by the looks of it, Elise will have her own happy ending.
Or so I thought.
Without any hesitation, I landed a punch on Rance's face. This bastard. He staggered back and didn't bother to raise his head.
Good. He should be ashamed. No wonder I felt uneasy with that woman. I never liked the news of her having a past with Rance. But, God, I wanted to kill Rance for what he did.
Rael quickly pushed me away from Rance when he saw me walking towards him again.
"Get away from me," madiin na sabi ko kay Rael.
"No! You'll kill him!"
I smirked. "Right, so move, Rael."
"Let him be, Cean Rael," Rance said, wiping the blood in his lips. "Move," utos niya dito pero hindi gumalaw si Rael.
"You fucking bastard. You have the guts to talk? Where did you get that confidence, huh?"
I managed to remove Rael in front of me and pulled Rance's collar. "For that woman, Rance? You'll sacrifice your own sister? Ganun ka ba kabaliw para sa babaeng yon?"
"Isn't obvious?" Sagot nito sa akin.
Out of despise towards my brother, I let go of him. This is so disappointing.
All my life I looked up to him as my role model. He is the next King of our clan and I have high respect towards him, as a future leader and as a brother.
The tears kept falling from my eyes as I stared at him, the person who shattered all my dreams of becoming like him.
It's our Elise, the Princess of South Clan and Crowned Princess of East Clan. How could... I was never the kind of person to judge one's character based on what I see... I wanted so badly to convince myself that Rance is feeling even a bit of guilt.
