Chapter Thirty

The Custody

When I felt the sun's heat on my face, I slowly opened my eyes. It was my reflex to look at my side even before Sean went home yesterday. But I got shocked to see no one beside me kaya napaupo ako sa kama. When I looked at the other side, he was there with a small smile on his lips.

"You're awake? You didn't sleep?" Dahil ang pagkakaalam ko ay sabi kaming natulog kagabi. It was more like, I fainted out of exhaustion because I can't remember anything by the time my back hit the mattress.

Sean stood up from the chair and went towards the bed then sat beside me. There was this longing in his face and I know it has something to do with what awaits us today. 

He combed my hair using one hand while caressing my cheeks with the other. "Sean," tawag ko sa kaniya.

"I'm just.. feeling guilty," mahinang sabi niya sa akin.

Binaba ko ang kamay niyang nasa mukha ko para makausap ko siya nang maayos. "What's wrong?"

His hand on my hair stopped combing and just stayed in one place. Matagal bago siya nakasagot sa akin at nakaramdam ako ng pag-aalinlangan mula sa kaniya. 

"Because I have to leave you again."

"Sean," buntong hininga ko. "We'll never know what will be decision is."

Sean looked at me with his eyes full of worry. "But I know how ruthless they are, Blaire. My family... Elise experienced it first hand. She had to remove her crown as our clan's princess and her entitlement as the East's Crowned Princess because of one mistake."

I know where he is coming from. Elise's deposal brought trauma to him when it comes to facing Custody. They truly are scary, as a matter of fact. They were the ones who monitors our movements and activities as Royalties and they have the power to remove us from our position if we go against our customs.

"But ours wasn't a mistake, Sean."

"Then what is?"

"An unfortunate event that tied us all. It just so happen that we were all connected to one another causing the fall of everyone. Do you hear me?"

Sean nodded at me. "We'll... get through this, I promise you. I'll come back for you and our baby."

I smiled at him and did his favorite move on me, caressing my face. "And I'll be here, waiting for you like what you have been doing for me."

Then he enveloped me in his arms and kissed my head, whispering his assurance that he will come back. I know he will. I'm just scared that Custody may turn things against his favor. 

By the time attendants and butlers entered our room, we silently dressed up for today. Sean kept on glancing at me while he was preparing. On the other hand, I kept my face as impassive as possible because I don't want Sean to be worried and ruin his focus on what he should be doing.

 I wore a nude-colored flare dress with an overlapped cape on top that covers the button-down part of the dress. I made sure it doesn't suffocate my stomach part. I also wore a beret to match the dress. My hair is down in volumized curls. 

After I am done preparing, Sean asked the people inside the room to leave for a moment. It made me curious as to why he asked that but I remained quiet in the corner.

Then Sean went towards me. He placed both of his hands on my waist and stared at me intently. "You look so beautiful, wife."

I chuckled. "Is this the reason why you asked them to leave?"
