"Aubrette look at me" His voice sound clearer, a veil shifting from in front her eyes. "Breathe" cold hands over her shoulders made her skin shiver. "Open your mouth. Breathe" Aubrette opened her mouth and sobbed. Someone pulled her up, and she felt cold all over.

Her eyes hurt, if it was from her own sea of tears or the river she could not tell. She could just feel the voice of her mother, the look of her eyes, her words still so present, hovering over her head as overhead grey clouds threatening to pour poisoned water on top of her.

"Aubrette" he whispered again, his hands grabbing onto her shoulders a bit stronger. "You're out. Open your eyes."

She took a deep breath, holding as much fresh air inside her lungs as she could possibly take, and slowly forced her eyes opened, a stream of tears pouring from them inmediatlely.

"Good" he said, placing her hair out of her face. Aubrette stared at him, whose eyes felt so familiar, eyes she had now seen through as if they were her own, she stared and stared and made herself believe that was the only thing that existed. She was out. She was out. She was out. There was nothing hurting her, no ghosts, no shadows, nor the haunting voice of her mother. "Try to breathe at the same time as me" he whispered, and took a deep breath.

Aubrette tried her best to do the same, even as sobs broke through her throat, as the sky above seemed to cloud over them, even as the water seemed to get closer with every passing second. She tried to. Tried. The air seemed to get trap inside her chest, waiting to let her lungs explode on her chest. There was so much darkness, not pure, not safe, there was darkness like she'd never known, shadows that could hurt her, the lies of a mother claiming to love, the betrayal of a friend she had once trusted, death and fire, of a friend, her safe heaven. Aubrette felt her throat lit on fire.

"Hey. Look at me" Dorian said, keeping her eyes on hers. His hands moving form her shoulders to her face. Aubrette let her thread of thoughts fade away as she concentrated again on him. "You aren't there anymore. You're out. Feel the grass under you. The wind on your face. I'm right here as well. You aren't there anymore."

Aubrette nodded, counting to ten, trying to let the cold of his skin put out the fire of hers. The wind wrapped her hair around her face, but she didn't care, she was glad at the feeling, at the sight of a night sky trapped inside a pair of strange eyes.

"Can you tell me?" He said. Aubrette blinked. "Slowly. Where are you?"

"Out" Dorian nodded. Letting go of her face. "I'm out"

She stayed silent, watching as he started to pull his wet clothes away from his body, throwing them back into the river, and looking around for his weapons. Her eyes traced over his tattoo, diving his spine in two. Once Dorian made sure his things were in place he sat, and stared, as if he too were somewhere else, trapped inside a hell he too could not get rid off.
