♕ Whirl of Shadows ♕
There was dust, ashes, stone and diamonds falling over them all at once. Aubrette could see Dorian running to Stella, grabbing her wrist and trying to pull her away, Stella rushing the other way as Dorian's eyes found her still unmoving. She could see Zander pushing Sybilla away. Nevaeh moving away as the floor beneath their feet started cracking. Around them people started running. But none of it felt real. None of the caos felt real.
"We have to move now!" Nevaeh yelled to her.
Aubrette closed her eyes, letting tears slip from them. When she opened them she found Nevaeh close to her trying to get her to move. She pressed her palms against his chest and pushed him away.
"I can't. You need to go now" She said, watching his eyes flash with fear. "Get them out Nev. Make sure they get all out"
She turned away, moving to the center of the room, and saw them shift towards her, all of them, the shadows, the same ones she'd seen in Zander's ship, the same one's that had come out of Morte's cell. Darkness splitting into terrors that could only haunt her. Their teeth shining as they smiled down at her. Aubrette reached for the knives tied to her leg.
People were screaming, throwing themselves form the mountain, hoping the river would catch them, but all she could see and heart where them. Their malicious grin making their shapeless faces more difficult to stare directly at.
I told you. I told you. I told you.
Now they will die. All of them. And you with them.
Sweet naive beautiful daughter.
Come back to me.
Come back to me.
"No. Get out of my head" Aubrette said falling to her knees.
They will die. All of them will die.
Aubrette looked up her hands somehow stained in bright red blood. Her hands started shaking, her vision blurring.
They will all die if you dont do something about it Aubrette.
They will all die because of you, but I guess that's to be expected.
You were never something exceptional.
Never a worthy daughter of mine.
There were hundreds of them now. Hundreds of shadows. Hundreds of blood eyes looking down at her as she kneeled in the center. Holding her hands to her side. Fressh blood still dripping from them.
All of them twirled in towards her, like they could almost feel her skin already holding them inside, their claws already sucking her life out for them. Aubrette tried to fight, tried to let her dagger cut through them, but it was useless, they hovered over her, trapping her inside. The darkness grew stronger somehow and she could not get up, could not move, could not swim towards the light, could not find the light anywhere around her.
They got close enough to touch her, close enough so that they'd win this fight and let herself scream, let herself wonder if this would be enough for them or if they'd go after the rest when there was nothing left inside of her.
Shadows can only be seen when theres darkness trying to cloud over light. There's no light here.
Dorians voice appeared in her head, a piece of memory. She did not have darkness of her own anymore, but maybe, maybe she had enough light. Aubrette stopped fighting, stopped moving, and let them get close, close enough that she could no longer see past them, close enough that it felt as if she was back inside the last level of Exilium surrounded by nothing, left with nothing. She screamed and let pour light come out of her. And the light was so bright, it might as well have been blinding darkness.
