"Oh, I got this black tshirt with sparkles!"
"THAT'S SO RACIST OMG!""Oh, I got Chinese food!"
"THAT'S RACIST BRUH.""Dude, there's this Indians tshirt that I really want."
"Indians? THAT'S RACIST LOL."DO YOUR UNDERSTAND HOW ANNOYING THAT IS
You really want to know what's racist?
"I dislike you because you're black."
"You can't drive because you're Chinese."
"We can invade your land because you're Indian."THAT'S RACIST.
Now.
Calling someone African American is a good step in the right direction.
However,
The way I see it, saying someone is African American dictates that they were once living in Africa, then moved to America. Thus making them,
Wait for it,
African American. Now, if it's a person whose lived in America their whole life, never in Africa, then,
Can't we just call them Americans?Like, I understand the basis of it, because "the person has ancestors that lived in Africa at one point," but they're not their ancestors.
They're still American. Done.Same with people with ancestors from China or Mexico or wherever else.
THEY'RE NOT THEIR ANCESTORS.
If you've been born and raised in America, congratulations!
YOU'RE AMERICAN.If you've been born and raised in America and have African/Chinese/Imdian/WhateverRace ancestors, congratulations!
YOU'RE STILL AMERICAN.Do we really need to "classify"?
In a sense, to me, that's still segregation. Can't our nationality be equal?
