Seriously, I understand that the people/ship in the story are not original characters for the most part.
I understand that.
BUT,
The plot, the issues, the romance, the fights, the climax, the background characters, they're what the writer created.
I've a MarkiMash story, which has multiple characters that are either friends of mine whose names I used, (with permission), or characters that I've created.
The plot, the issues, Mark and Aaron getting together, the marriage, everything was me.
Literally the only things that weren't mine were Mark, Aaron, and the names and appearance of the characters whom were named after friends of mine.
Their actions, how they influenced the story, their attitudes, that was mine.
Saying that "fanfics don't count as real books because they're not "original" ", is like saying that "The Last Supper" isn't a real/original painting because Jesus isn't an original character.
So, over all, shut up. You're being irrelevant.
