(IF YOU'RE OFFENDED EASILY BY PEOPLE DISAGREEING WITH YOUR RELIGIOUS OPINIONS/OPINIONS IN GENERAL, DON'T READ THIS.
YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.)
Human: "Hi, I'm Alex and I use they/them pronouns."
Other Human: "Oh, okay..."
Five Minutes Later
Other Human: "Oh, Alex? Yeah, she's over there!"
Alex: "Um, not to be rude, but I stated that my pronouns are they/them."
Other Human: "Oh, well, I don't understand using they/them because that's multiple people. So, I just went with what felt right."
I understand that, at times, it can be hard to use someone's correct pronouns. If you've known them for a long time, I understand a slip every once and awhile.
But to completely ignore it and use their dead pronouns is just wrong.
Even if having pronouns different than your "birth gender" isn't something you agree with, I expect that a person with enough decency for the humans around them can at least TRY to say they or them in place of he/him/her/she.
I hate when people say that it's against their religion.
Want to get religious? Alright, here:
Galatians 3:28
"There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
Now, don't get me wrong. I myself am a Unitarian Universalist. I hold respect for all people's religious beliefs. But when you preach that you should "love everyone" and then go back on your word with the "the Bible says different/I wasn't raised to accept that", I get angry.
To me, Christianity is supposed to be a religion where they talk about Jesus/God accepting and loving all people no matter what.
But then they get into this fine print translating stuff, and all of a sudden it's a sin to eat shrimp.
