I looked over my sisters blonde plate which was carefully wrapped around her head. Small, blue butterfly clips stopping it from falling out.
I saw waiters carrying food out.
"Finally! Food!" I said.
"Huh?"
"Our dinner is ready!" I pointed to some of the waiters.
My sister wrapped her arms around me and pulled me into a hug. "Thanks for being a great sister. I couldn't ask for a better one. Remember, I love you with all my heart."
"I'll always-" I was interrupted when her new husband, Jace, grabbed her hand and pulled her away from me, leading her to the head table.
Then I realised that my sister knew what she was doing.
She knew that it wouldn't last.
She knew that we hated Jace and Jace hated us.
But she was going to try to make it work by leaving.
I knew her too well.
She's going to leave me.
I felt tears fill my eyes but they were wiped away as I was turned around quickly.
I tripped on my dress but I was caught.
"Thomas?" I asked, shocked by the sudden surprise.
"Hungry?" He asked.
"Always." I laughed. "We aren't sitting together though, they allocated seats."
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Well...." His voice trailed off like my cousins did.
"What?" I asked.
"Could I get the pretty girls number so I can text her on this boring night?"
"You think I'm pretty?" I asked, feeling my cheeks heat up.
"You're the prettiest girl I have seen in a long time." He looked at me straight in the eyes.
I grabbed his phone and pounded my number into it.
This has never happened before....
"Yay!" He cheered. "I'll text you." He waved his phone in my face and cheered as he walked away.
I giggled as I walked over to eat my dinner.
As soon as I sat down my phone went off.
PING
'Missing me?' He asked.
'Not as much as you're missing me 👍' I put an emoji at the end.
'Sure, sure. You're a good dancer.'
"Y/N! Turn that phone off!" It took me a second to realise it was my mum.
I put it in my pocket, I could feel it buzzing.
I looked up to where Thomas was sitting.
He had one eyebrow raised which made me laugh.
I looked at my mum who was talking to my sister.
I put my phone under the table so I could try to hide it. I began to read the messages.
'Y/N?' 'You there?' It started off like that then it changed to: 'have I upset you already?' Then finally: 'OH MY OWN, PRETENDING SHES BESIDES ME. ALL ALONE, I WALK WITH HER TIL' MORNING. WITHOUT HER, I FEEL HER ARMS AROUND ME. AND WHEN I LOSE MY WAY I CLOSE MY EYES AND SHE HAS FOUND ME'
'Thomas?' I replied.
'
Yay! She's back!'
'She never left. It's called my mum'
'I think my mum is helping Jace's mum' I looked up at him he moved his head to my table where the bride and groom and their family sits.
Jace's mum was crying her eyes out about something.
Jace was ignoring her but Thomas's mum was being very kind.
'Can I just ask...' I replied.
'What?'
'How did you know the lyrics to on my own?'
'I have my secrets 😏'
'I love how you changed it from male to feminine.'
'For my lady'
'Im not your lady!'
'Thats what they all say!' He replied, making me blush
We carried on texting like this for the whole meal.
I didnt want the speeches to come, I knew I would have to put my phone down to do my own speech.
But I didn't even get to my speech before my dad dragged me and my mum away from my sister for the last time.
