Karma reached his hands and cupped Gakushū's face, turning him to face him. He planted a kiss on Gakushū's forehead which should have earned him a punch in the face.
But Gakushū was too emotionally distressed to do.
"Thirty days" He said.
"What?"...
"So, how are you and Gakushū-kun?" Arisu Natsuki(she legally changed her name back to her maiden one ever since Kagami left) sipped her tea with an air of sophistication.
"I think he's forgiven me" Karma responded, taking a biscuit from the plate.
"Really? The last time I saw that man, he could barely stand to look at you. Much less be in the same room as you" Natsuki poured herself another cup. "Care to tell me what events took place in your camping trip son?"
Karma locked with Natsuki's similar gold eyes.
"Not much, really" Karma said with a smile.
STAB!
Natsuki stabbed her sandwich with her fork, sending chills down her son's spine as she continued to smile at him. "I'd love to hear it anyway Karma" which translates to "start talking brat or else this fork will be impaled to your leg instead"
His mother is such a scary woman, it was hard to believe she used to cower behind her (ex) husband's back all those years ago. "Y-yes mother" Karma forced a chuckle as he reached for a cookie, wary of his mother's grip on her fork. "That's a good boy" she smiled affectionately. "Go on dear, we have the entire afternoon"
"Don't you have a meeting with the board this afternoon?"
"I cleared it up and rescheduled" Natsuki responded impatiently. "Start talking"
Karma sighed, and started recalling the events of the camping trip.
From the chaotic first day, their swimming at the lake, his failed attempt at sleeping with Gakushū after he purposely left behind his tent but as it turned out Gakushū brought an extra one for him.
He smiled adoringly when he recalled being caged in Gakushū's arms after sneaking into his tent, and how his strawberry blonde told him he also missed cuddling Karma. Which Karma is convinced is the equivalent of saying "I'm still into you" (Author: 🎶I should be over all the butterflies! 🎶)
He clenched his teeth when he whined to Natsuki about Rio's attempt at seducing his Gakushū, to which Natsuki merely laughed about. "What's so funny?!" He crossed his arms in a childish manner.
"Oh-Hahaha! Karma dear, you should have more faith in your friends. Did it ever occur to you she might have been trying to make you jealous?" Natsuki giggled.
Karma blushed in shame because no, he hadn't thought of that. "I'm stupid, why didn't I think of that? Of course Rio would try to make me jealous, she likes teasing me. And Gakushū's not even remotely interested in her, what was I so scared about?"
Two years he was gone and Gakushū never found someone to replace him, that should be enough reason to clear off any doubts in his mind! Gakushū never replaced him! he's still number one in his heart.
Gakushū never touched anyone else even though he was free to do so because Karma was absent from his life and he had no way of knowing if Karma will even come back. That thought alone was enough to spark hope in the red head.
"So, anything else dear? Hmmm..a group of dumb adults out in the woods, maybe there was alcohol involved" Natsuki eyed her son. Karma rubbed his neck with a grin that says "guilty as charged"
"You know you can't hold your liquor you stupid man, you're like your father when it comes to that" Natsuki scoffed.
Suddenly, Karma narrowed his eyes in anger. "Don't compare me to that man!"
Silence hung in the air. Natsuki looked at her now empty cup. "Have you ever heard from him? It's been twelve years Karma" The woman sighed.
"No and I never want to hear from that bastard" Karma slammed his tea cup down. "After everything he did to us?! I wouldn't be caught dead talking, or breathing the same air as-"
Natsuki reached a hand and cupped his cheek. His mother's gentle touch calmed him instantly.
"Calm down young man, I was just asking if you've heard from him. I wouldn't be caught dead breathing the same air as him either" Natsuki smiled. "But, I received a voice message from him the other day"
Karma looked at her. "What did he say?"
"I don't know, I deleted the message without listening to it" Natsuki shrugged. "But perhaps I shouldn't have, it could have been important-"
"-Anything that involves Kagami will never be important" Karma rolled his eyes. "Like how we weren't important to him"
Natsuki simply nodded. "I see...So Karma, what are your next moves? Will you be taking Gakushū-kun on a romantic evening? Do you plan to book a hotel to hump and roll in the sheets?"
Karma choked on his tea. "Mom!"
Natsuki covered her smirk with her tea cup. "I'm only teasing dear".
"Why is he being shy now? Back then he couldn't be bothered screaming his lungs out as they go at it, even when I was fucking wearing noise canceling headphones I could still hear bits and pieces" Natsuki shuddered at the memory of those many sleepless nights when Karma and Gakushū would cause a ruckus until four in the morning.
