Day 27

When Karma woke up, it was midday.

He groaned and turned to his side, only to be met with strawberry blonde hair obscuring his vision.

He blinked his sleepiness away and smiled when he realized his love was sleeping on his chest. He kissed the top of Gakushū's head, before gently removing his arms from him, and slipped out of bed quietly.

He arrived at the kitchen, just in time to see his mother cooking lunch.

"Slept well sweetheart?" She asks, frying chicken. Karma smiled, nodding at her. He took a seat behind the table and watched her. "It's been a long twenty seven days" he sighed. "I really want a long break, that vacation in italy could hardly count as a vacation at all"

Natsuki hums absentmindedly. "Then take another vacation" she suggests. "This time far far away! With just you, and Gakushū for company, and no connection with us" she tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Like on....a private island!"

Karma smiled, remembering the island they celebrated the first day of summer on back in junior high. Two months after the events of Gakushū's dare and Nadia

"Sounds like a good idea" he said. "But it'll have to wait. That island can be our honeymoon...maybe even the venue for the wedding re-do"

He thought of his rushed wedding back at italy.

"Yes" Natsuki agrees. She turned to face her son properly. "And your necrosis?" She furrowed her brow in concern. Karma shrugged "Gakushū and Nanami are helping me but the medication needed to prolong my life. With their help, I can lead a longer and, semi-normal life"

Natsuki paused after hearing this. She sighed "I would have done the same thing for you dear...why did you run away in the first place? Why did you hide? Why did you keep everything from us?"

Karma lowered his head in shame. "I was terrified" he revealed. "I didn't want to become a burden to you, to Gakushū or anyone else....I just-" he was young, stupid, and scared. He just wanted to get away, as far away as possible.

He was surprised when he felt warm, soft hands touch his face.

Natsuki pressed a kiss on her son's forehead. "You will never be a burden sweetheart. I'm annoyed that you ever thought of yourself that way! We love you darling, always will" hugging her son tightly, she peppered his face with kisses.

"I know that now" Karma smiled. Natsuki winked at him "Go wake that husband of yours and tell him to have lunch with us, oh! And I almost forgot!" She pulled something out from her pocket and gave it to him

Karma recognized the wedding rings they were supposed to wear two years ago, before he ran away. "You've kept it this whole time?"

"Gakushū asked me to keep them safe. As angry and hurt as he was, he always knew you'd be back" Natsuki beamed.

Karma felt his heart flourish with love.

Putting his ring on, he ran back to his room and jumped on the bed

"What the fuck--Karma!" Gakushū exclaimed, annoyed. His annoyance was short lived when he was met with Karma's kiss.

Gakushū was surprised, but he melted into the kiss.

"I love you" he breathed. Gakushū cupped Karma's cheeks lovingly "I love you too"

They heard Natsuki calling them to eat

Karma was about to leave, but Gakushū held his wrist. "Your necrosis, by the way" he said. "I have a surprise for you" cradling his cheek and kissing his nose, he whispered "It may not be the cure for your illness but....it's second place to a cure"

Karma's heart beated with hope at Gakushū's words. He smiled, nodded at him, and shared another kiss before they got out of bed and went to the kitchen.
