For a while, the blonde woman and the brunet sat in the room in utter silence.

It wasn't awkward, but it wasn't comfortable either. At least, not for Ren. The man has been opening and closing his mouth like a fish out of water for the past fifteen minutes, while the Asano woman just say there patiently.

"What's going on?" Alice asked her mother. Mira and the twins were peeking through the crack in the door. "Mommy...I thought it was rude to eavesdrop?" Alex asked oh so innocently with a smirk.

"Well yes but--" Mira flushed. "It's okay for grown ups"

"So you're saying when we're all grown up we can listen to other people's private conversations anytime we want?" Alex raised a brow.

Mira just sighed. "Don't be a smartass young man"

"But-" Alex was cut off with a finger to his lips. "Shush" Mira says before returning her attention to her wife and Ren, pushing the door just a little bit to make the gap bigger.

Alice peeped under her mom while Alex pressed a cup on the door and pressed his ear against it.

"Ren" Nanami placed a hand on Ren's shoulder, causing him to snap out of his thoughts.

"We've been quiet for fifteen minutes" she said. "What's your problem?"

Ren took a deep breath. There's no turning back now

"I'm doing this to let you go" He dropped. Nanami looked at him in confusion. "I mean...to let my feelings for you go, because I can't keep hurting Rio like this. Nanami-nee, I've been in love with you for years" he finally admitted to her. "Since the first time I saw you in a video call, I felt an attraction, I thought you were the prettiest girl in the world"

Nanami just sat there in silence. She nodded at him to continue.

"I thought it was just a crush, eventually crushes will evaporate like water right?" he chuckled awkwardly. "But it didn't. I looked forward to talking to you over the phone, texts, and video calls. I always looked forward to it all"

Mira bit her lower lip I'm anticipation.

Nanami was still not saying a word, only listening.

"Nanami-nee" Ren lowered his head. "I l-loved you!"

The blonde woman allowed five seconds to pass, before responding with "past tense"

Ren nodded. "Past tense"

"I can't say I'm surprised kiddo. I've known for years, but my mistake was never telling you to give up. I wanted you to learn for yourself" she sighed. "I didn't know how to let you down easy because I cared for you, you're like a second brother to me"

"Thank you" Ren said with a sigh. "Knowing you still care about me though, even if it's just a brotherly way, it's relieving"

"So who's the woman who made you realize you need to move on kiddo?" Nanami smiled softly.

"N-Nakamura" Ren blushed slightly.

"Haha, look at him blushing just by saying her name!" Nanami thinks.

"Oooh, the feisty blonde demoness!" Nanami clapped her hands together. "Nice pick, she's pretty hot, nice legs, long blonde hair and shining blue eyes--But she's not as gorgeous as my Mira though, who's been eavesdropping"

"Busted!" Mira and the twins scrambled to get away from the door. They went back to the kitchen to pretend they had been down there the entire time and that Nanami, genius Nanami with an IQ higher than Gakushū, had been mistaken.

"How do you feel now that you've finally told me how you felt? After all these years" Nanami stood up, Ren standing up as well.

"It's....a good feeling. Relieving, I feel free from something that's been holding me back" Holding him back from accepting Rio's advances. "I feel good about myself"

"Wonderful" Nanami patted his shoulder fondly. "I'm proud of you kiddo" she pushed him out of the room. "Go to your blonde demon"

"Me and Gakushū have a thing for demons huh? Haha" Ren chuckled.

"Mira's a demon too though" Nanami sighed dreamily. "When we get in the sheets~"

Ren blinked, before blushing darkly. "Uh--eh, okay then"

"Go! Go!" Nanami led him to the front door. "Button up your shirt and go get your woman"

Ren smiled at her one last time. "Thank you Nanami-nee" and with that he left.
