NEW YORK

"Michael hurryyy," Eve whined. They were supposed to be under the night sky by now, watching the blood moon. Eve had always loved the night sky and tonight was no exception. Honestly, she hadn't planned on going as she had loads of psych homework left but after a trivial fight with her mother the same evening, she needed a breather. And that's how she ended up in the living room of the Pears' waiting as their only son got dressed up so that they could go to the terrace to watch the sky.

"Hey! I am ready, no need for name calling," he said as he rushed out, his hair tousled.

"Well then Mike, next time decide what you want to wear faster. Now come on," Eve took him by his hand and after saying hurried bye's to the Pears' she took their son and made her way to the terrace.

"Gosh, it looks beautiful," Eve sighed and rested her head on Mike's shoulder.

"You alright there? You seem a bit down," Mike asked putting a hand on her waist for support as they leaned on the wall, watching the sky. They lived in New York so needless to say, the sky was polluted and only the moon could be seen clearly, the stars vanishing one by one through the years.

"Hmm, just had a small fight with mom." "Call her now and tell her you are sorry?"

"But I am not!" Eve said while failing her hands in exasperation. "Eve," Mike sighed. "Fine, fine, I will call her then we can go back to your room," she gave in after she heard the disappointed sigh. Eve had pride and was very stubborn, only Mike had ever been the exception; the only person's advice and thoughts she cared to listen to. In front of everyone else, she donned a mask, she never let her wall down or let them get to her. It worked out well for her.... Usually.

After a few minutes of sorting things out with mom and a couple of 'love you'' the two friends went back to Mike's bedroom for a sleepover. "Chips, check. 18-year-old drama, check. Movies, check. Phone charged fully, check. Brownies, check," Eve said as she flopped down on Mike's bed, hogging almost the entire bed. "Move you giant," Mike said and rolled her to one side as Eve scowled.

"Eve?" Mike said after they finished watching pride and prejudice as per as Eve's wishes. It was midnight. She had wanted to compare the movie with the book. "Yeah?"

"I can't sleep now, my mind is filled with thoughts about the movie, the chips are over and I am restless," he whined. Eve sighed, "then let's go back to the terrace and listen to some music while discussing the movie."

Mike contemplated it for a moment before agreeing. He got up and lend a hand to Eve who raised her brow and got up on her own. Mike chuckled as they left a note for his parents and slipped quietly to the building terrace.

"See, the movie albeit having the perfect cast, according to me, leaves out a lot. This is why I prefer reading the book before watching its adaptations," Eve said, swinging her legs from where she sat on the railing.

The building was an old one with only five storey and there was a roof down so even if she fell... she wouldn't die. Mike stood beside her, his arms on the railing. "True that. But overall, the movie portrayed the love and dislike between Darcy and Elizabeth well. I especially loved the start when they went to the ball meeting Darcy for the first time."

Eve was about to reply but stopped short when she saw- "Ayyy, a shooting star." They watched in silence as it streaked across the sky. As it got closer, the star instead of making its way through the night sky, barreled straight towards the two best friends. "What the fu-" before Eve could finish her sentence, the shooting star that now up close looked a bit green struck her and Mike. They gasped and before could process what had struck them that looked like a shooting star but didn't follow its usual course, they were suck into a black hole kind of thing and were then falling from the night sky.
