Sitting in a red velvet chair, Rantaro held Shuichi in his lap as they were looking over a book together. Rantaro had had plenty of rest as of late, and wanted to spend these energizing moments he was full of with the other. And at the moment, Shuichi was reading to him. Something Rantaro was finding himself enjoying quite a bit; he loved books. Hence why he left some in Shuichi's room, hoping he would like them as much as he did. Shuichi did, obviously. He even asked Rantaro for more books, and so Rantaro promised to show him the library later. Much to Shuichi's excitement.

"..erm, Rantaro?" Shuichi asked, glancing up from the book to see Rantaro look back at him.

"What is it, sweetheart?"

Shuichi immediately flushed and turned his face, feeling his heart struck by that pet name. They had just agreed getting properly married and now pet names.. Ah, it was too much for Shuichi's poor virgin self to take in at once.

"U-um.. well.. I was wondering.. I know you explained .. how you met Kokichi .. but aren't you worried he'll come back? You said you've known him for hundreds of years..! He doesn't seem the type to give up.."

Rantaro hummed, leaning back and staring up at the ceiling as be thought about it. Then nodded. "Yeah, he most definitely will come back. I already know that." He answered rather bluntly, earning a surprised yelp from Shuichi.

"T-then what should we do!?"

"Well.. there's not much I can do.." Rather admitted, looking back at the other shamefully. "I haven't told you this, but I.. I can't leave the mountain.."

Shuichi's eyes widened, not understanding what that could mean. How could Rantaro not leave the mountain?! They left the mountain fro the formal gathering, didn't they? But the co fusion must've been visble on his face, because Rantaro quickly began to explain. Or at least, he tried to.

"This place.. I.. I want to leave it, but .." he clutched the arm rest. "I can't.. I can't explain it well.. I'm sorry.." he murmured, frowning to himself as he seemed deeply affected by that fact. Rantaro wanted to run away, but everytime he did, only more disaster followed him; only more bad dreams, more hurt people, and more devinstation occurred whenever he tried to run away. And quite honestly, Rantaro couldn't take it anymore.

"I guess you could say.. I'm scared to leave.." Rantaro whispered, his body tensing up as he hugged himself. "I'm scared.. if I leave.. that I may not find a place to hide from the sunlight.. or that humans will find me and I'll hurt them by accident.. or.." his eyes went wide and teared up. "I may see how beautiful world is, and my heart will ache entirely because of it. Because I don't belong in it anymore-"

Rantaro cut himself off when he felt himself suddenly being hugged.

"It's okay. I honestly think.. I don't belong there, either.." Shuichi confessed, pressing his forehead against the other's shoulder. "Besides Kaede.. I didn't have any friends.. and my uncle was training me to become a detective so I could work in the cities.. but.. that sort of job scared me, even if I would probably be good at it.." he pulled back and looked up at the other.

"Maybe.. we were just meant to belong here.. with each other, is what I'm saying.." Shuichi summarized awkwardly, glancing down with a blush on his face.
