What's Next?

Anna's POV

The words exited the mouth of the one that I loved the most but how? How could she speak such words that could enrage me so much?

"Anna! Anna!" Eva shook me and lightly. Her voice became muffled and was eventually drowned out by feeling of rage and anger. I closed my eyes and gritted my teeth and all I saw was violent ways I was absolutely going to hurt Lauren. A slight smile graced my lips as I found joy in the satisfaction I felt in knowing no one, not even Eva, was able to stop me.

"ANNA!" I heard and slowly opened my eyes.

"Yes?" I answered calmly.

"You literally spaced out for 5 minutes, are you okay?" Katie asked worriedly.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I answered and turned to Eva. She held an expression of worry and concern.

"But what the fuck? Why would she kiss you Eva??" Katie asked angrily. Eva hung her head low and sighed.

"She just grabbed my hand, pulled me into her and kissed me. It all happened so fast I didn't even know it was happening until it was already happening." she explained.

"What the fuck? I never liked that bitch! So what made you crash? Did she try to kidnap you?" Sab said frantically but never made efforts to go close to Eva.

"No she didn't. I escaped and I remember driving but my next memory was waking up here. I have no clue what happened." she recalled. Surprisingly, I remained calm and digested all the information Eva so carefully gave out. The four of them went back and forth trying to answer the whats, whys and hows of the bizzare incident but I paid no attention to them.

After what felt like an eternity of them blabbing, I spoke.

"Dev, did she tell you she liked Eva?" I asked and silence befell the room. All eyes landed on me and my sudden question but it wasn't sudden. There was an obvious hesitancy to answer the question which made me even more curious.

"Well she always used to talk about this person she fell in love with but I swear she never said it was Eva." she answered. There was huge regret in her words.

"Hey, it isn't your fault. She's a fucking weirdo!" Katie interjected, sensing the regret in Dev's words.

"Hey, sorry to interrupt but Anna, my parents want to have a word with you." Jessica peeped her head into the room and announced.

"What do they want Jessica? It wasn't Anna." Eva spoke up instantly. She held my hand in an attempt to keep me by her side.

"Hey it's fine. I'll be back soon." I reassured her and she reluctantly released my hand. I walked out the room and followed Jessica down the hall and she abruptly stopped by the elevator and spun quickly on her heels to face me.

"So who's gonna beat the bitch? You or me?" she asked. My eyes opened wide in shock.

"Huh? What are you talking about?" I said.

"Anna Shumate you're pretty but you're dumb. I know you know that the bitch Lauren had a hand in this. I saw her following Eva around all the time like a weirdo and I tried to hint to Eva that the bitch was weird. She thought I was doing that because I had a soft spot for you. So again, I ask what are we gonna do?" she said.

Eva's POV

I struggled to lay back on my bed even though my mother flodded my bed with an unnecessary amount of pillows.

"You good? You want more beca-.." my mother began before I cut her off.

"I'm good Mom, really I'm good. Thank you." I said and smiled genuinely. She returned the expression but hers wasn't genuine, it was filled with a mother's worry. She nodded, turned on her heels and was out the door in a jiffy.

"Knock, knock you fucking cripple." Katie said as she walked through the door.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Dev said and she slipped past Katie, to my bedside. Sab stood behind Katie, almost afraid to walk closer and bringing up the rare was the love of my life. She knocked before she entered even though she was the only person that didn't have to.

"Hey guys, hi baby." I greeted them and tried to adjust myself to sit upright but it was a lot harder than I expected. Katie and Dev rushed to my aid and adjusted the pillows to make me as comfortable as possible. Anna and Sab stood on opposite ends of the room and just looked on.

"Isn't this your job idiot?" Kaite turned to Anna but Anna never responded. She just looked at me.

"Sab, are you okay?" I asked when I couldn't hold it in any longer.

"Huh? Yeah no I'm fine. How are you?" she asked but made no attempt to get closer to me.

"I'm good.........considering." I answered.

"Considering the fact that Lauren almost killed you. Say it!" Anna blurted out. I looked at her but her face was buried in her phone and she didn't bother to spare a glance at me. She just said it and continued with whatever she did.

"Speaking of, Dev have you heard from her?" Sab asked.

"No, I haven't really been taking her calls." she dropped her body on my bed and sighed before she continued. "I don't know what to think. I mean she's been my friend for so long and I've never experienced anything like this. To this extent, you know." she ended.

"To this extent? What does that mean?" I asked. Katie shot a warning look at my direction and then to Anna. I picked up immediately. "Well whatever it is I'm just focused on getting better." I added. We continued to talk about everything else but the incident until the girls had to leave. They said their goodbyes and were out my rooms s suddenly as they entered.

"Can you come here, please?" I asked Anna and she obliged immediately.

"Do you want me to uh help you like fix your pillows or something? Like are you uncomfortable?" she asked as if one wrong move and I'd shatter right before her eyes. That moment I knew she was afraid.

"I just want you." I said and patted my thigh. She cautiously got on the bed and gently laid her head on my lap. I ran my fingers through her hair until I felt her body relax.

"Are you scared?" I finally asked.

"As fuck! More scared than angry." she easily admitted which took me by surprise. I was prepared to force the words out of her but she gave them to me so freely.

"Why?" I asked. She began to draw small circles on my outer thigh. Silence dimmed the lights in the room and made sure not that even the carbon monoxide that needed to escape from our bodies, did so. It was still a very uncomfortable still.

"We never get a break." she cut the silence with a sharp blade releasing the light and air. "We're always either fighting our demons, each other or people. Either way we're fighting. When does it end?" she lamented. I wasn't sure if that was a rhetorical question or not but I answered.

"I don't know but I'm willing to fight tooth and nail as long as I can do it beside you." I said.

"That's on period!" she whispered jokingly.

"That's was so fucking random." I said and laughed.

"But it made you laugh, so it worked." she responded and shrugged her shoulders. I sighed and relaxed into the pillows.

My mind wandered away from my present and dived head first into the future, what the fuck did she have planned for Lauren?
