Walk Away

Anna's POV

Eva left and I felt nothing. I knew I loved her but I had absolutely no room mentally to express or explain myself to her and it would've been unfair for her to endure my certain demise.

The week went by and I was cleared to walk with a cane, go back to school and even drive. Saturday I helped Esther move all my stuff back upstairs to my room and we weren't finished until around 5 that evening. I took a long warm bath, put on comfy clothes and dived into a game of minecraft. I had my brain cooler so I needed nothing or no one for comfort.

The sun peeked through the curtains and that was when I realized I stayed up all night on the game. I retired to bed but ran into difficulty when my brain refused to sleep without Eva. FUCK! I went downstairs to my interim room and slept on the chair.

I got two hours sleep maximum before Amanda woke me.

"What?" I snarled.

"Woah, I'm just here to say my goodbyes. I've finished my job here, unless you want me to stay." she said. I sat up and looked at her.

"Can you cuddle?" I asked.

"Come again?" sh asked

"Okay forget it. Thanks for your service.". I said. She stood at the door and looked at me.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

She closed the door, dropped her bags and took off her top. I had no clue she was that sexy under those scrubs, wow.

"Anna you're the hottest girl I've seen in my life. You ooze sex appeal and I've tried my best to contain myself but I can't anymore." she said and straddled me in the chair. She tentatively leaned forward and kissed me, I kissed back. As the kiss intensified I wrapped my hand in her hair and aggressively pulled it back and sucked her neck, she moaned. I moved down to her breasts kissing and licking while she moaned.

"Oooo I taste better than Eva, huh?" she said. I stopped immediately and tugged her hair harder.

"What the fuck did you say?" I asked.

"Anna, you're hurting me." she said cried. I let go of her hair and lifted her off of me.

"Bruh get the fuck out." I said and went upstairs to my room. I slammed my door and sat on my bed. Why the fuck did I kiss her?

I questioned my poor judgment then I reached for the bottle of Hennessy and took a swig. One swig turned into five and before I knew it the bottle was finished. I slumped down on the floor and passed out.

I must've slept through the night because I woke just in time to get ready for school. I did not want to face Eva, the girls or anybody to be honest. I struggled to get on my feet and when I did I got into the shower. I wore a black hoodie, black sweatpants and a black Nike Air max, I felt no zeal to look good or even presentable. I brushed my teeth and hair and wrapped it in a high bun. A very messy one to be specific. I drove to school with absolutely no post accident fears.

Eva's POV

Katie, Sab, Devyn and I stood at the bottom of the school stairs, chatting when I saw Anna's G wagon came screeching into the parking lot. We all looked at each other in shock.

"Eva, you didn't tell us idiot was coming back today." Katie said.

"I didn't know." I said.

She took a minute before she got out. When she got out Katie shouted out to her immediately. She gave a half smile and slowly walked over. I smiled when I saw her with the cane but as she got closer, my heart sunk. My baby looked gaunt, her skin was pale and her eyes were red.

"Hey girls, what's up?" she said not making eye contact with any of us. Sab squeezed past us and hugged her. She didn't hug her back but she just placed her head on Sab's chest.

"Anna are you good?" she asked. Anna shook her head, yes. We knew that wasn't true. Sab looked at me to come take her place, she let go of Anna and I replaced her.

"Hey beautiful." she said.

"Hey Boon." I said and she hugged me. I refused to ask her anything but I didn't mind comforting her. Her frame was frail and it took everything in my power not to cry while I hugged her. The school bell rang and she jolted upright and walked up the stairs. What the fuck kind of bipolar shit was that?

During classes Anna just stared at the board. I felt useless while I watched her, she was broken and she didn't want to be fixed or atleast she didn't want me to fix her. The bell rang for lunch and we sat at our usual table leaving space for Anna. She came to our table eventually and sat down.

"So idiot how does it feel to be back to school?" Katie asked.

"It's great I guess. I wish everyone would stop asking me questions though." she said.

"Well they're just happy to see you." Devyn chimed in.

"Bruh, I'm nothing to see. The fuck they wanna see? A semifunctional knee?" she said in anger.

"Anyway, Eva. What are you doing for you birthday?" Katie asked and changed the subject. Anna looked up at me and a hint of a smile appeared.

"I'm not sure, I might just go for dinner." I said. Anna's half smile left and she began to play with the string of her hoodie.

"We should throw a party!" Sab exclaimed.

"Yeah we should but where?" Devyn asked.

"By Anna of course." Katie suggested.

"No. We could ask Zack." I said. Anna looked at me again this time without a smile. A very blank stare.

"Oh uh okay." Katie said.

"Okay so Eva's birthday is next week that means we have ample time to plan and execute." Sab said and clapped her hands. The bell rang right after and we got up to go to class.

Anna touched my hand from across the table and held it.

"Wait, please." she said. The cafeteria emptied and then she spoke.

"Dinner with who?" she questioned.

"Whoever is willing to take me." I said with attitude.

"Okay. Why?" she questioned again.

"Why what?" I asked.

"Why not at my house?" she replied.

"Take a wild guess Boon." I answered.

"If I knew I wouldn't be asking Eva." she said.

"You kicked me out of your house Anna, twice." I said.

"Okay." she said and got up.

"Are we together?" she asked.

"A relationship requires two participating parties. I've been single when I thought I was in a relationship." I said. She held her cane and gripped it so firmly her veins popped out. She took a deep breath and said "Okay." and walked out the cafeteria.
