Why did it have to be him?
Taehyung's eyes were closed, but he was wide awake, thinking of a way to get out.
Jungkook had brought him back to their room, from what he heard, and now Jimin was arguing with him. And Taehyung agreed with him.
For any person, idol or otherwise, it was reckless to drag a stranger to the place where you were staying in a different place, in a different country. Taehyung had given no indications that he was a good guy, and Jungkook, going solely on how Taehyung's condition had deteriorated, had brought him to their room. It was a bad move...terrible move.
But he wasn't a bad person, Jimin had seen it when Taehyung saved him, and Jungkook trusted Jimin, as he always had. In every single lifetime they had shared, Jungkook had met him after Jimin. He shouldn't have been surprised that in this life too, Jungkook would make such an appearance, right when Jimin had met Taehyung.
Usually though, there were signs, some indications that Jungkook was arriving, or had reached the place Taehyung was hiding in. It had been the only way to avoid meeting Jungkook. For some years, Taehyung had been successful, but this time, something had changed. There had been no warning, not from the animals nor the nature. He had just appeared in front of Taehyung, and the initial fear had drown out the broef happiness blooming in his heart.
Now though, Taehyung allowed himself to take a moment to listen in on Jungkook's voice, the soft, calm tone and the tinge of worry for him...for a stranger.
He was always the same, always the first to reach out a helping hand to him. Whether Taehyung was a beggar, a homeless immigrant, an orphaned child or a wronged prisoner running from the law, Jungkook had saved him. Sometimes he had smile, and sometimes he had chide at Taehyung's negligence, but ultimately they always ended up being friends.
Was this time going to be the same?
Something told Taehyung, it wouldn't be that easy. If there had been a shift in his fate, the things would unfold differently this time. He would have to be careful, wait and monitor his every move. It couldn't give the Elders a chance to ruin this meeting for him.
"We can't take him to the doctor, Kookie! It's too dangerous!" Jimin was saying.
"You keep throwing that word at me! What's so dangerous? What's so dangerous about him?" Jungkook asked.
He didn't believe when Jimin said Taehyung could do magic, and now he was having a hard time going along with the current plan, to let him go untreated, and somehow Taehyung felt a pang of pity for Jimin. The guy hadn't signed up for this. He wasn't equipped to handle this kind of situations, involving bleeding people. Taehyung doubted he had seen another man cough up that much blood up close. The fact that he hadn't freaked out at the sight of the bleeding Taehyung was in itself an achievement.
Jimin, every time Taehyung met him, had been somewhat squeamish when it came to wounds. He didn't like the sight of blood much. This version of Jimin was handling it well.
"He-" Jimin stopped himself and sighed. Taehyung frowned. Was he about to spill his secret now?
"He can't go to the human doctor. They won't be able to treat him." Jimin said and Taehyung, the second time in a day, was glad that Jimin was on his side.
"Human doctor? Really Jiminie?" Jungkook asked, his tone had a ring of annoyance in it, and knowing him, Taehyung could guess that this would slowly turn in anger.
He needed to get up.
Taehyung opened his eyes, first a centimeter, and then a little more, until he let the bright yellow light blind him. "Ugh!"
