"Excuse me." Taehyung said and got up. "I need to use the restroom."
Jimin nodded and beside him, Jungkook mumbled something incoherent. How many times had he told Jungkook to not speak with his mouth full? Jimin had lost count. But he went and did the same thing again.
"Hyung?" This time Jungkook's voice was clear and somewhat serious.
Jimin looked up from his plate, and at Jungkook. His best friend was staring at something to his right, the direction in which Taehyung had disappeared.
"Didn't he say, he was going to the restroom?" Jungkook asked, a frown on his face.
Jimin leaned back, and caught sight of Taehyung's back, his lean body slipping behind the back door. "Yes, he did. But looks like he has other plans." He said and the frown on Jungkook's face deepened.
"Why did he lie?" Jungkook asked no one in particular. "It wasn't like we would eavesdrop on his conversation."
"Well-" Jimin sighed and put down his fork. "This is Taehyung we're talking about, Kookie. It's not like he considers his friends. Maybe there was a secret call he needed to make."
Jungkook opened his mouth, but Jimin shook his head. "No. I'm not going to let you follow him this time. Your trip to Taehyung's apartment was dangerous enough. It's good thing he didn't notice it was you."
"Ah yes, hyung." Jungkook leaned back in his chair, and wiped his mouth with a white napkin. "Why did you cover up for me? I could have explained it to Taehyung-"
"Explained what Jungkook?" Jimin asked and glared at him. "Do you have any idea how lucky you are to have escaped under his nose? If it weren't for me pretending to be his guest at six o'clock in the morning, who knows what would have happened."
"I had a plan." Jungkook said in a small smile and looked down. He was trying for the kicked puppy look, but Jimin wasn't going to be swayed by it. Jungkook needed to know where to draw the line.
He needed to know that stalking Taehyung, and following him into his apartment was dangerous. Even their human laws had dimmed it as offensive, and if Taehyung had been human, he might have filed a restraining order against Jungkook for his actions last night.
'Listen to me Jungkook." Jimin took hold of his hand, and faced him. "We don't know what Taehyung is capable of. Maybe, we'll never know." He kept his voice low, and the voices from the crowd around them, masked his words well. "He is not human, Jungkook. Never forget that. No matter if he smiles like a human, if he cries like a human or tries to fit in. In the end, he isn't like us. He has power, Kookie. Wild and untamed powers that affect him as well."
"I know-" Jimin nodded to the unasked question in Jungkook's eyes. "I know that he hasn't harmed us yet, and if everything goes well, we could get along. But you can never cross that line Jungkook. You will always be a human, and Taehyung won't ever be one."
"Remember that."
Jungkook sat in front of him, silent and lost in his thoughts.
Jimin hoped his words had hit home, and if not, he was going to give Jungkook a piece of his mind again, until he understood this grave situation.
"Jimin-ssi?"
"Yes."
Jungkook opened his mouth, closed it and then opened it again. Jimin gave his hand a small squeeze. "What is it? Tell me. What's bothering you?"
