That voice...was it Seojoon? It sounded like Seojoon, Taehyung thought.

How did Seojoon know Jungkook? What did Seojoon want from Jungkook?

Taehyung hadn't forgotten their meeting.

There was no way to find out how Seojoon had tracked him down to his apartment that day. But when the bastard had mentioned Jungkook, Taehyung had lost his cool. He had punched Seojoon in the face, hard and fast, and sent the guy crumbling to the ground crying in pain.

From the look of surprise on Seojoon's face, Taehyung knew he hadn't seen it coming.

Of course, he couldn't outright kill the deity, even if he wished to do so with all his heart. It was another one of the restrictions the Elders had put on him, before banishing him to the human lands, to live in hiding. He couldn't blow the cover of other deities in front of humans nor could he kill the deities. Self-defense leading to murder, didn't count in his case, since Taehyung was an immortal with enough powers to stop an attack even with his eyes closed. He had trained enough that no one could take him by surprise, even if they attacked him in his sleep. This reduced his chances of ever having a plausible reason for killing one of his enemies or comrades for that matter.

But that hadn't stopped him from beating up Seojoon or kicking him out of his apartment.

There was no place in his house for a traitor like Seojoon, not even after the centuries Taehyung spent hating on him.

How could he forget what Seojoon had done? How could he forget that this was the guy who had leaked Jungkook's hiding place to the Elders? It didn't matter that he didn't kill Jungkook himself. But he was an accomplice in the scheme of things, and Taehyung had named him the enemy ever since he lost his Jungkook to the monsters.

It still baffled him, how things had ended between them.

Taehyung wasn't born with hatred in his heart for the guy, but somehow Seojoon had managed to turn Taehyung against him.

It had started out small, a few jabs or taunts passed between deities when Jungkook or Taehyung were in their presence.

Among the deities, Taehyung had viewed Seojoon as an acquaintance. They sometimes did their missions together, and knew how the other worked. He exchanged some words on multiple occasions and Taehyung also got to meet one of the Elders under whom Seojoon worked.

Some deities even named him, the Elders pet, but Taehyung couldn't agree on it.

In his eyes, no one could take the place of Kim Seokjin.

Taehyung failed to see the darkness in Seojoon, back when they were deities. Maybe he was gullible back then, too stupid to notice the glares Seojoon threw at Jungkook. If it weren't for him discovering Jungkook's crying figure, huddled behind the walls of the ruins they usually escaped to, Taehyung wouldn't have guessed the level of hatred Seojoon had mustered up against Jungkook.

To this day, he still had no clue what had caused Seojoon to develop such extreme feelings for Jungkook.

The latter hadn't talked with Seojoon or gotten on his bad side...ever. If it weren't for Taehyung they wouldn't have been in the same room either. It was only because of Taehyung whose missions fell on the same day as Seojoon, and they found themselves in human lands at the same time, that Jungkook had happened to witness their friendship.

No...it wasn't even a friendship.

It was more of knowing the other because they worked in the same place. Somewhat like how humans greeted the others if they worked together or had stuff to do together, even if they didn't know the other on a personal level.
