"That's awesome!"
"We'll meet you tomorrow!" Jungkook had said.
Taehyung couldn't help fuming at the boy for making this sudden decision for him. Who was he to decide if Taehyung wanted to meet them or not? He had promised to try to be friends, and not jump into the relationship this quickly.
In fact, a part of him had been afraid, worried that the Elders might see this as a violation of their restrictions.
But then again, the Fates had changed its path and maybe, Taehyung hoped, the Elders wouldn't pay much attention to him hanging out with his two friends after centuries of separation.
"You never change, Jungkookie." Taehyung muttered, still staring at the closed door of his apartment.
Even with new memories, new body and different childhood, the essence that made Jungkook, his adorable lover Jungkook, remained the same throughout time. No matter how many rebirths he went through, changes in lifestyles, or tragedies, nothing could take that away from him.
Maybe it was why Jungkook had reached out to him in his grief.
He always knew when Taehyung was hurting, even if they were miles apart or strangers. Jungkook had always known how to comfort him.
Taehyung sighed and laid down on his bed, covering his eyes with his arm. He was tired, and rightly so. With Jimin and Jungkook entering his life once again, it had become chaotic. He missed the peace from before, but only a little.
He couldn't deny that meeting Jungkook again had brought back thousands of memories, the feeling of exhilaration he had felt the first time he saw the cute bunny-like low rank deity. And his first words to Taehyung.
"You're boring."
His words were a smack to Taehyung's face. He was blunt, no sugar coating or going easy on Taehyung just because his was Namjoon's brother. Maybe that was the part that had attracted Taehyung the most to Jungkook, before.
He didn't try to flatter him with nonsense about his powers, or try to decide for him and name him the next elder to sit in the Council meeting. He did none of that.
With his powers, and being Namjoon's brother, it had given Taehyung hundreds of friends that lapped up to him and tried to remain in his good books. But there were none that fit the bill of a best friend.
Heck, most got closer to him just so they could get inside gossip of the Council meetings, which he refused to do.
Everybody knew of his rank and the extent of his powers. He excelled in the absolute control of his time, pulling fragments of time from a damaged memory if needed and sometimes even creating pieces of worlds from the scratch up, following a long forgotten memory. He was one of the few deities who could pick out the exact time of death of a being, human or otherwise, just by plucking the strings of multiple timelines surrounding him, with precision and a delicate hand.
They were a lethal pair, him and his brother. Namjoon was older and wiser brain of the two, while Taehyung was hypothetical muscle and trickster of time.
Taehyung's ability was the kind that many would kill for, and he knew it. But he also knew that it was a double edged sword.
The others only knew the extent of his powers, but not the price he had to keep giving, while using those abilities. Namjoon was aware of it, and after meeting him, Jungkook too had an idea.
