"Call me when you reach home." Taehyung had told him.
How could he be so stupid? They hadn't even shared numbers with each other and Taehyung had left Jungkook alone with the watchers. He completely forgot there was no way to contact Jungkook if something happened.
But-
Taehyung stopped pacing in his living room and remembered – the watchers are forbidden to hurt humans, to harm or kill them, just like the restrictions placed on him. They wouldn't harm Jungkook in public eye or otherwise.
The tension in his shoulders lifted and Taehyung took a deep breath, filling his lungs to the maximum and exhaled, slowly, feeling the air rush out from his mouth and with it the stress he had been under.
The panic had messed with his mind, missing the crucial motto that watchers lived by.
They were given the task of observing and learning, and reporting, nothing more. They couldn't be physically involved with any human.
Taehyung sat down on the chair and bowed his head, resting it on the table. Worrying for Jungkook was second nature for him, but he hadn't wanted to get attached to him this soon.
"Keep Jungkook at your side at all times." Seokjin's words came back to him, and with it came the anger he had tried to forget on seeing the deity's face.
Taehyung had an idea of the relationship his brother had with Seokjin, but it didn't mean he was happy about it. Why did it have to be Seokjin? Couldn't it have been someone else? Knowing how he had stood on the side, watching the elders torture him, watching them burn half of his powers, until only a wisp of his magic remained, watching him writhing on the ground until Taehyung passed out from the pain. How could Namjoon hyung bare to stay with him?
Even if he hadn't participated in the actual deed, he was still accountable for what happened to Taehyung and Jungkook. How could Namjoon hyung ignore these facts and stand beside him? Didn't he think Taehyung deserved that much? Didn't he think Taehyung had the right to hate Seokjin had done?
"I had no choice." Seokjin had said, but it sounded pathetic to Taehyung's ears. One allows had the choice whether to choice the right or the wrong. Even if there were grey areas and Seokjin was stuck between choosing what was right and what was best for them all, he still could have chosen a less painful path for Taehyung.
But he simply stood there...watching, observing and emotionless – still as a statue.
And Taehyung would always hate him for it, no matter what.
With a sigh he got up and walked to his room, flicking his wrist, and within seconds the closet was pushed to the side.
Behind the closet was a simple door. Taehyung walked to it, and pressed a hand to it. The door fell away, leaving bright bubbles of light before him. Taehyung waved his fingers and the light parted to show him the room behind it. A smile played on his lips, as his eyes roamed over the many pictures, paintings and monochrome photos placed on the floor, hanging off the walls and some he had left under his bed and forgotten to arrange them.
The earlier worries left his mind, leaving him to his peace.
This was his haven, his zen whenever his mind and heart were at war and faced turmoil. Just looking at those faces, eased some of the ugliness inside him and he stepped in, going to a painting on his right.
It was a bright and colorful, Jungkook, staring at him with a bright smile on his face and a crown of lilies on his head.
"I missed you." Taehyung whispered and hugged the frame.
