"Taehyung? Taehyungie! Listen to me!"
The voice came from a faraway place, and Taehyung had difficulty placing it.
"Taehyung it's not what you think! His fate has changed for the better!"
Better?
Taehyung blinked, the words falling upon his ears but not making much sense, except for that word – better.
Better...fates...his fates changed for better – the voice was saying.
He had heard that voice before. Taehyung shook his head, and tried concentrating again.
"Taehyung snap out of it! Didn't you hear what I said?"
"You can save him! You can save Jungkook!"
Jungkook? The name...this person, he was -
Taehyung's eyes flew wide open and there was a pounding in his head. "Jungkook? You said Jungkook?" He whispered.
He was on his knees, and the memory of why he was there came flooding back to Taehyung.
The dinner with Jimin and Jungkook, the mirror burning in his jeans and his brother and Seokjin, and the words Seokjin had shared with him.
When he had mentioned the fates and let Taehyung know that the paths had changed, the shock had trigged his recently boosted powers, and Taehyung momentarily lost control over his time.
Taehyung took a deep breath and let it go slowly through his nose. He repeated the process for several minutes, trying to find a center and concentrating on pulling back the essence of time into him. The wisps of stagnant energy thrummed around him, prickling his skin and it stung when he tried to coax the energy to return back to his vessel.
His movements were slow, and it was a laborious piece of work, but he managed to gain back control over his time.
It was a good thing Taehyung had chosen the abandoned alley and not the inside of the crowded restaurant standing a couple feet in front of him.
Unleashing his time like this could have proven dangerous for those caught in it.
Taehyung never slipped up this quickly, but the news from Seokjin had knocked all logic from his mind, and along with it the wall he had built around his essence as safety measures.
"Taehyung? Can you hear?"
"Yes."
"Look at me." The mirror dug into his palm, with how tightly Taehyung was holding it. The edge of it dug into the fleshy part of his hand, making a red, angry dent in his skin. Taehyung pressed against it more, and the burst of pain helped clear his mind some more.
However, it didn't rid him of the oncoming headache.
"Taehyung, please -"
Taehyung stared at the mirror, meeting his brother's concerned eyes. Seokjin peered at him from behind Namjoon's shoulder. "You should have started with that line, instead." He said.
"What?" Namjoon frowned.
"You should have started with – Taehyung you can save Jungkook this time." Taehyung said and glared at Seokjin. "Instead of – Taehyung the fates have changed their paths."
The later didn't cower, but he didn't come to the front of the mirror either. It was enough for Taehyung. At least now, Seokjin knew he was at fault.
