Chapter 46 - 'Come with me...'

DAY 442

TODOROKI's POV

"How did it go?" - I asked falling back to sit on my futon where I discharged my math book only a few minutes before.

Izuku went out for dinner with his father leaving Bakugō to keep an eye on me for most of the evening, like I was a little kid. I was sure he didn't do it with any malice, but I still didn't apreciate his lack of trust; though, to be honest, I understood that it might be hard to trust someone who wasn't willing to talk about his own mental health.

He kept saying that we needed to talk about it and that I needed to open up about it with him, but I honesty wasn't looking forward to have that conversation anytime soon and kept avoiding it as the plague.

"My parents are getting a divorce, but I guess it's fine as long it's what's best for them..." - he said sitting next to me not sounding really bothered about it.

"Was your mom there?"

"No, just dad. It was odd, haven't seen him in a while." - he sighed laying down one of his arms resting around my waist as I fidget with the pages of my math book.

He was already wearing his pajamas, so I guess we were going to sleep in my room tonight.
That was something we silently agreed to, each night we'd sleep together, I don't know if it was a way for him to keep an eye on me because he didn't trust me at all, or if it was just for the fun of it, but I was more than okay with it.

"Aren't you sad they're divorcing?" - I asked. It seemed weid to me how chill he seemed about it. He shrugged lightly before sitting back up.

"It's not like things are going to change that much. He's always been distant and mom and I always menaged just fine. It's always been like they were divorced in a way, they're just going to make it official, I guess. I don't really care as long as they're fine with it..." - he said with a half smile. He surely wasn't happy, but it didn't seem like he was sad either.

"Oh, he said you look like a nice kid..." - he said suddenly, giggling a bit looking at me.

"You told him about us?" - I asked. I was surprised he would do that after how bad things went with his mother. I really didn't expect him to be open about our relationship when his mother just told him how disappointed she was and how much she disagreed with his decision.

"Well, not really. He said my mom told him, besides he saw my phone lockscreen so..." - he said seeming amused by the confused expression on my face.

"I still have that picture we took last year at the amusement park as my lockscreen..." - he said smiling lightly raising a hand to put a piece of hair behind my ear.

"Maybe you should change it..." - I mumbled shifting around a bit.

"Why? It's cute, I'm not changing it unless we take a new one." - he giggled pulling me to lay down next to him, my math book laying somewhere on the floor.

"I wasn't-I was already thinking about it..." - I mumbled looking away - "And we fought after that, and everything went downhill after so..."

Izuku sighed next to me but I didn't dare to look at him.

"Okay, I'll change it..." - he sighed placing a hand on my cheek gently forcing me to meet his glance - "But we're taking a new one and you can't say no!" - he added with a smile.
