Chapter 51 - When September ends

DAY 500

Shōto could count on the finger of one hand the times he had been so nauseous since he started dating Izuku, or at least that was until a couple weeks before. Their relationship hit a wall ever since Inko disapproved of them, and no matter how hard Izuku was working on himself and his feelings while reassuring Shōto that he loved him, Shōto couldn't help but feel the anxiety eat him alive every minute spent awake.
His friend had noticed something was up between them, but none of them had said a word about it.

"What's up with Midoriya?" - Miyako asked discharging her phone on the floor as she finally opened her English textbook.

Shōto sighed, he knew the moment would eventually come and no matter how much he had dreaded it for, it was time to face it. It had been two weeks now, it was only natural for question to start popping out.

"What's up with him?" - Shōto asked focusing on her for the time being, trying so hard to pretend he had no clue what the question was about.

"I mean, where has he been lately?" - she asked flipping through her textbook pages.

"I don't know...in his room probably?" - Shōto said with a hard shrug lowering his glance on his textbook knowing full well that he was a bad lair and that they could read him like an open book.

"So that's where he is right now as well?" - she asked, finally looking up at Shōto with a nonplussed expression.

"Why do you care? You don't even like him..." - Shōto scoffed nervously tapping the pen on the book.

"Come on Shōto! What happened to your study sessions? You've been hanging up with us most of the time lately and he hasn't tagged along once..." - Miyako said with a heavy sigh.

Shōto gave her a glance, his eyes darting to Momo and Kyoka soon after, realising they were all staring at him with worried expression.

"He's just going through some stuff and needs some time alone..." - Shōto mumbled going back to his homework.

It was true to an extent: Izuku asked him for some space and he complied, but days had turned into weeks and it was starting to bother Shōto more with every passing day. He didn't complain, he knew Izuku wasn't doing well, his frequent nightmare were a proof, besides he couldn't complain with Momo and the others, it was not his place to tell Izuku's private matters.
Besides, even if Shōto was worried and they spent less time together, they were still together. They kept spending the night in each other room, much to Aizawa's dismay, and they talked a bit while walking alone to class. He just spent more time doing his homework with the girls, while Izuku stood on his own, that way he wouldn't have to help him when he had already so much on his mind. Shōto was trying really hard to be content with how things were going.

"Did you broke up already?" - Miyako asked crossing her arms over her chest.

"No, we didn't..." - Shōto muttered, knowing full well that it definitely looked like that from the outside.

"Are you okay Shōto?" - Momo asked resting a hand on his forearm.

"I'm fine, we're ok..." - he sighed nodding as he met her stare.
