SUZY'S POV
When the doorbell rang, I was busy cooking in the kitchen, so I first turned down the gas stove so that what I was preparing wouldn't burn. I wasn't expecting any visitors at the time, so I didn't know who rang the doorbell. I walked over to the door and opened it.
"Hello there, Jennie!" Even though I was shocked why she was here, I greeted her kindly. "Please come in" I widely opened the door, and she smiled as she walked in.
"Have a seat, Lisa is not here, is there anything you need from her?" I'll inquire.
"Actually you are really the one I came here for" She replied.
I slowly bob my head. "Okay, I'll make something for us to drink first, what do you prefer juice, coffee or tea?"
"A tea will do" She answered and smiled.
I went back to the kitchen to make a tea. I’ll admit, I’m a bit nervous every time I face Jennie, besides I don’t know what to say to her plus the fact that I’m her rival to Lisa.
She was the first to be loved and she also seems to be the last.
I went back to the living room with the tea and laid it on the table. I sat across from Jennie. "So, what can I do for you?" I politely asked her.
"I won't go on any longer. I know this sounds desperate, but I want Lisa back, Ms. Bae" She responded with assurance.
I was taken aback by what she said, but I didn't express it to her.
I grinned. "Jennie, what are your thoughts on Lisa? Toys that you set aside after playing with her and then take when you see her in someone else?" I inquired cynically.
I let Lisa to her, but I wanted to observe how she reacted to what I said.
"Ms. Bae, you have no idea what you're talking about" She gave a thoughtful response.
"I have no idea what happened to the both of you, all I know is that you hurt her so badly that she refuses to come back to you" I noticed the tightening of her grip on the cup.
"How can you be sure she doesn't want to come back to me?" She inquired with a cynical tone.
I feigned to think by placing my hand on my chin. "Let's just say she has her heart set on marrying me" I replied with a smile.
She laughed. "Is she in love with you? Perhaps she adored you because you were always there for her when she needed me"
"Exactly! When she needed you, where were you? Where were you while she was crying over her father's death? Let me tell you, I helped her in starting their business again. You, what have you done?" She couldn't respond to anything I said.
"Give me enough reason to grant what you ask" I sipped my tea while waiting for her answer.
"I love her" She answered shortly.
"That's it? Do you think that's enough? The only thing you can give her before is love, you haven't done it right yet" I insulted her.
I want her to explode in anger because of what I say. She was slammed the table in a rage.
"You have no right to insult or belittle my love for Lisa" I saw her tears well up. "If I ever hurt her before, it was because I wanted to protect the relationship we had" Her tears kept flowing.
I let her speak and say everything she wanted.
"My only mistake was that I thought I could fix all our problems on my own. I thought in that way I wouldn't hurt her but the situation got worse until she left" Jennie said sadly.
"Lisa and I ended our relationship" She gave me a startled expression. "I advised her to give you a chance, but she remained silent. We're heading home to Thailand to inform our families next week, but I'm not sure if she'll be back here in Seoul, and no matter how much I want you to get back together because I know she'll be happy with you, Jennie, I don't have the decision. When she returns, it's up to you to do everything you can to win her back" She just listening to what I say.
I know what I'm doing makes me look like an idiot, but I'll do anything for Lisa, even if it means leaving her with the person she loves.
Jennie left after we talked. She appears to have nothing to say to me, and I appear to have nothing to say to her. I had heard everything I needed to know, and I was pleased to leave Lisa with her. I simply hope she has more strength now to confront everything, because if she hurts Lisa again as a result of her wrong decisions, I will not hesitate to reclaim the person I love.
When I returned to the kitchen, I remembered that I was cooking something, and when I opened the pan, I discovered that the food I was cooking had been burned.
---
"Don't eat that, I'll just make something else" Lisa was observing the burnt pancake I'd made when I muttered something to her.
She burst out laughing. "I've just recently witnessed a chef who has just finished cooking burnt pancakes" She mockingly grasped her stomach.
I laughed as well. "I didn't mean to, the movie was so good that I forgot I was cooking something" I explain to her.
I took the pancake that was already on the plate and was about to throw it in the trash but she took it back from me.
"There's so many people who don't eat so don't waste food, it's okay I'll just put chocolate syrup" I smiled at what she said.
Lisa is the type of person who knows how to appreciate small things, as long as you work hard for it, for her it's the best.
That's when I thought that the person she would love was very lucky, and I didn't expect to be one of those who would feel that love. She's a good person so I won't be surprised if everyone likes her.
---
I didn't realize that my tears were already dripping down my face and I cried even more because I knew that in the next few days, the memories of the two of us would remain just memories.
I can be selfish if I want to, I just don't want to see you sad, why can't I make you happy like she did?
For the very first time, I wished I was just Jennie.
- If happy is her, I'm happy for you.
