CHAPTER 31 (REUNION)

JENNIE'S POV

When Lisa said that we would be heading to the Mansion, I was taken aback, she had even invited Jisoo unnie and Chaeyoung. We had no idea what was going on, but it seemed like we were having a family reunion from what I can tell now. It wasn't Mom's death anniversary or even Dad's birthday, as far as I recall, and it had nothing to do with the firm because none of Dad's business colleagues were present.

"What exactly is going on?" While the servants were busy arranging meals on the table, I muttered to Lisa as we entered the mansion.

"You'll find out soon" Lisa's response to my question was succinct. I noticed Dad was smiling at Lisa as he walked down the stairs.

When was the last time they were this close?

I looked at Jisoo unnie and I know she was also wondering. Chaeyoung was behind her holding her hand probably also caused by nervousness.

"Mr. Kim" Lisa gave Dad a warm welcome as she approached him.

"How many times have I told you to just call me Dad, Lisa?" Dad said to him, and my eyes widened even more. Jisoo unnie and I exchanged glances, but this time she was smiling, indicating that she had realized what was going on.

"Will you not even hug me?" We were questioned by our father. Jisoo unnie was the one who approached him first.

"Dad I thought you were on a business trip" Unnie said and hugged him. I looked at Lisa and she merely nodded as if she's saying that I should also approached them.

"Jennie why do you look so shocked?" Dad asked me since I’m still not moving. "Let me hug you my princess" He approached me and after a few seconds he let go of my hug and looked at Chaeyoung. "You're Park Chaeyoung, right? I’m sorry if we didn’t have a chance to talk properly then"

Chaeyoung bowed to him. "I'm glad to see you again Mr. Kim" She said politely.

I heard Dad chuckled before speaking. "Just call me Dad. Can I hug my daughter's princess?" He asked Chaeyoung while smiling. Chaeyoung also smiled and approached him.

"That's enough Dad" Unnie said after a few seconds and pulled Chaeyoung closer to her.

"My eldest is too possessive" Dad said jokingly. "Okay,  enough with the drama, where's Seulgi and Irene?" He turned around to look for the two.

"We're here!" Seulgi greeted them warmly as they entered the mansion.

"Grandpa!" I was surprised to see Lucas with them, Lucas ran to Dad and jumped to hug his grandfather. "I missed you, grandpa" Lucas said while smiling as he hugged Dad and turned his gaze at me. "Mommy!" He immediately got down and ran closer to me. "You're also here" He said and hugged me too.

"Hey bud!" Lucas approached Lisa and give her a high five.

They have only met once but they are close to each other huh?

Lisa sat down so that she was equal to Lucas' height. "Hello bud, how are you?" Lisa asked him.

"I'm fine! Look I got a star earlier in school" He showed the back of his hand to Lisa.

"Wow very good! I think someone deserves a present, do you want chocolates? Lisa asked Lucas and he excitedly nodded.

"I'll give you chocolates later, just keep it up okay?" Lisa said and ruffled Lucas' hair.

"Let's eat" Dad said when he noticed the food was already placed on the long table.

We conversed while eating as if we hadn't seen each other in a long time, but this was the first time we'd had the chance to do so because we usually just talk about business. I still have no idea what happened to Lisa and Dad or why they are now so close. They were nearly the only two conversing, and she seemed to be the daughter rather than me.

"Are you getting married?" I heard Lisa ask and when I looked at her she was looking at Seulgi and Irene. Irene nodded and smiled and showed us the ring.

"Unnie why didn't you tell me this?" I asked Irene unnie.

"I didn't inform you right away since you were too preoccupied with your love life" She responded.

"Seul, I thought you were waiting for Lisa to get married?" Jisoo unnie asked Seulgi.

"You might have to get married again before Lisa proposes to Jennie because she moves too slowly" We all laughed at Seulgi's funny response to Unnie.

"Do you have any plans to get married again" Dad asked Jisoo unnie.

She slowly nodded. "I intend to marry Chaeyoung in a church setting" Jisoo unnie answered with a smile, looking at Chaeyoung and holding her hand. I smiled and shook while looking at them.

"I was the same way with your mother at the time. I truly wanted to marry her in different countries but didn't have the opportunity" Dad said sadly, but he immediately smiled and glanced at Lisa. "When do you intend to marry Jennie, Lisa?"

"I'm just waiting for the ideal opportunity, Dad, and besides I don't want to marry anybody other than Jennie" Lisa's assured response.

"That's great, I'd like to have another grandchild with Jennie" Because of what Dad said, Jisoo unnie and I exchanged glances. Lisa didn't appear to notice when Lucas spoke up out of nowhere.

"Mommy I want to have a sibling so I have a playmate" Lucas said as he had food in his mouth.

"Baby I told you don't talk when your mouth is full" I told her and wiped the edge of her lip.

"Don't worry Lucas, Mommy Jen will give you a sibling" Chaeyoung said and winked at Lucas and he giggled. 

"Bud let's play again later, I have toys in my room" Lucas said while looking at Lisa.

Lisa smiled at him. "Sure but before that, finish your meal first" Lisa replied.

We continued to eat, but were startled by a maid's scream from the garden.

"What's that?" Dad inquired with a grimace on his face.

"Let's have a look" Lisa, Dad, and Jisoo unnie all stood up. "Stay here" Lisa stated before she left.

When they arrived at the garden there was a guard and maid holding a garbage bag.

"What's that?" Mr. Kim asked when he gets close to the two. He covered his nose because of the bad smell coming from the garbage bag.

"Mr. Kim, it was thrown from the outside, and there's a dead cat and..."

"And what?" Mr. Kim questioned the maid because she didn't finish what she was saying.

"And, Ma'am Jennie's picture" When Lisa saw the image that the maid was holding, she grimaced. The photo clearly shows that it was stabbed with a knife.

"Check the security cameras" Mr. Kim issued a guard order, and guard was quickly followed.

"This is something we can't ignore, it definitely means something" Jisoo said seriously.

Lisa just stared at the picture and wondered who could possibly have done it.
