Voight, Hailey, Kim, Antonio and Adam all ran into the ED. Voight went over to Erin who was still crying while Hailey and Kim clutched each other in horror as they saw Jay's limp body lying in a hospital bed with millions of tubes and wires coming out of him.

"What happened?" Hailey asked Erin.
"I don't know. I don't even know what he was doing in my apartment to begin with" Erin started before Hailey short circuited and grabbed Erin by the shoulders.
"He went over to see you to see if you had changed! Or if you were still the same little junkie you were when you quit!" the feisty blonde detective spat at Erin who was taken aback. Did they all really think that of her? More tears started forming in her eyes as she ran down the hall into the bathroom. Hailey instantly regretted what she said and Voight shot her a look that said "watch your mouth" before Hailey quickly ran down the hall to find Erin.

"What actually happened boss?" Adam asked curiously. Always count on Adam to be like seventeen steps behind everyone else.
"The truck driver reckons Jay was swerving and in the wrong lane. It was raining so he didn't have time to stop and then he just collided with Jay. If he was drinking or otherwise this wouldn't be ruled a homicide or anything since the truck driver is okay and apparently since Jay caused the accident. But we won't know until he wakes up. If he even wakes up at all" Voight said with a grim tone. Jay and him had really become close when Erin had left. They both understood how the other was feeling. Jay as a boyfriend and Voight as a father. They bonded over the grief of loosing someone they love.

Erin was in one of the bathroom stalls crying her eyes out. Did they all really think that of her?

That she was a good for nothing junkie that brought nothing but bad news wherever she went. She continued spinning out until she heard gentle footsteps and a blonde haired girl with a soft smile appeared in front of her. Erin shuffled back towards the wall as Hailey sat down in front of her and sighed.

"I'm sorry I went off on you like that" she said apologetically. "But the thing is. Jay went over to your apartment because he still loves you. He's trying his hardest to deny it but we all know it's always going to be you. When you left, we didn't know if Jay would make it through without you. He was drinking, sleeping around lots and kind of bailed on everyone else. We hooked up a few times even. That's how messed up he was. Erin..." Haileys voice trailed off before she met Erin's gaze. They were both teary eyed now.

"It wasn't just Jay that missed you. Every single day after you left, I kept asking myself what more I could've done to help you grieve and make you stay. We were best friends. Every day I thought of you walking up those steps and taking your badge back. I was waiting for two years for that to happen. But after 18 months of waiting. Im pretty sure everyone lost hope. We all miss you, you know. Jay does the most. Erin, he loves you. More than anything. Which is why you need to fight for him. Because he would've fought for you" Hailey said before getting up to make her exit. But before she could she was being pulled back down. Erin wrapped her in a hug before they pulled each other off the floor, still tightly wrapped in the others arms.

"Hailey, if I wasn't thinking about Jay. Or Voight. I was thinking about you. All I could think about was how I missed my best friend and my family. The alcohol constantly tasted bitter, it never" she was cut off by Hailey.

"Made anything better?" who finished her sentence. "Erin when you left. I'm not sure if you realize but it didn't just affect you. We lost Jay, we lost Voight, we lost Kim, we lost Antonio. And I lost myself. For months in a bar hoping you'd come back to us. When you never did. I stopped going and I just got back to work. I'd wait at Molly's every night until 11:30, knowing you'd usually come in then for a beer with Jay. He'd occasionally pop by, we'd have a drink and Jay would leave. But I sat there and waited for you to come and sit next to me, drink a beer and tell me all about how Jay had been cute that day. Erin. Don't break my heart again." Erin's breath caught. Hailey said the exact same words Erin said to Nadia all those months ago. And Erin only knew one way to respond.

"I won't. I promise" she said with a soft tone and a smile. Nadias death was still the most traumatic and gruesome thing Erin had ever lived through, she lost her best friend because of some perverted and psycho bastard. Nadia would've been a hell of a cop, certainly one of the bravest. Erin sighed before Hailey returned the gesture and wrapped one arm around Erin's shoulder before the duo headed out of the bathroom.

The rest of the crew were outside Jay's room when they heard giggles and two blonde women walked out from around the corner. Hailey and Erin. Reunited once again.

Voight watched as both his detectives, joined by Kim. Were engulfing each other in hugs and trying to giggle quietly before Dr Reese exited the room. The girls stopped giggling as Dr Reese spoke.

"First, he is stable for now. And I'm sorry that this is so personal, but it's my duty to tell you that. If Jay codes again, his next of kin. His brother Will. Ordered a DNR. Which means do not resuscitate. So if Jay's heart stops again. We will not be able to save him, because if we did. He'd wake up with severe deficits" Erin's breath caught. She could loose him. Hailey and Kim wrapped her in a hug. They were all only thinking of loosing their best friend. How could this be?
