Chapter Thirty Five

Erin and Hailey scurried up the steps to the bullpen, very aware that they were both late.

Erin had her eyeliner smeared under her eyes and Hailey looked like she hadn't slept for days.

Which was true, it was their scheduled time off so they were off doing whatever they wanted to do.

Luckily Voight hadn't commanded them to be into work until Monday, so they had Saturday, Sunday and then back to work.

They spent their weekend partying, not like Erin used to do. But they went to a random bar, Red Raven for a couple hours Saturday night with Kim and then headed off to a house party.

Pretty much all of that night was a blur, Erin was very cautious due to her past so spent most of her time taking care of Hailey and Kim instead of fully partying herself. Not so keen on revisiting her past.

From what she remembered she did enjoy herself though and Hailey was way to wasted to remember anything, Kim had left half way through the party because Jules was being fussy.

Both girls walked up the steps with eyes on them, aware they both looked like absolute shit.

"How was your time off?" Adam chuckled at the girls.

"Yeah you look like shit" Jay retorted, the boys all laughed.

"Bite me Jay" Erin spat before he put his hands up in defense.

"Yeah it was a ton of fun, it would've been better if Kim stayed. Where is she anyways?" Hailey said as she rolled her eyes at the boys.

"Dunno, she hasn't been in this morning but called and said she was on her way" Jay said to the girls as they questioned Kim's whereabouts.

Soon enough Kim ran up the steps and dragged Hailey and Erin into the bathrooms with incredulous looks on their faces.

"What's happened?" Hailey asked as Kim let go of both their wrists, and pulled out a white stick from her purse before flipping it over. Two bright pink lines.

"Oh my god!" Erin screamed, Hailey squealed and they all hugged each other.

"Is it Ruzek's again?" Hailey asked.

"We hooked up like twice and both times have ended in me being pregnant. Hailey how did you avoid this?!" Kim joked to her friend.

"I didn't" Hailey said and the laughter died.

Erin knew that Adam and Hailey were going to have a kid together a long time ago but then Hailey miscarried.

"I miscarried, 20 weeks. It was a girl" Haileys voice was soft. Kim understood the pain of having a miscarriage. She lost a baby once before.

It was so painful but this time she didn't know if she wanted to have another kid with him.

"What do I do guys? That's why I dragged you in here. I drank a lot last night and I only found out this morning, I don't throw up often even because of alcohol. So I did a test then raced over here" Kim asked defeated.

"It's up to you, but whatever you decide. You have our full support" Erin said softly. As the three girls wrapped each other into a hug.

Out in the bullpen all the boys were confused.

They heard Erin scream and lots of squeals, everyone shot confused looks around before the three girls came back out giggling and had their arms slung over one another's shoulder.

"What was that about?" Antonio asked as the girls came and sat down,

"Nothing just girl talk" Hailey said with a wink to her friends. They tried to stifle their laughter some more before Voight came up the steps with two agents.

"Special Agents Upton and Cassiano. Hadley and Emmy" One of the agents, Hadley, said.

"Wait? Upton?" Adam asked as everyone shot a look at Hailey. Who backed away confused.

"Well I'm Sergeant Voight, this is Intelligence" Hank said before everyone made their introductions.

"I'm Hailey, Detective Hailey Upton" the blonde detective said as she shook hands with her almost lookalike.

Special Agent Upton was lean, dirty blonde and pretty identical to Hailey, it was hard to believe that they weren't sisters. Or at least related.

Special Agent Cassiano seemed quite fond of Jay, shooting him flirty looks which made Erin's blood boil. She dragged Hailey over to the break room.

"What the hell was that?" Erin whined.

"That chick, looks like my sister" Hailey said. Stunned.

"She really does doesn't she? Your parents never told you about a sister? Would your brothers know anything?" Erin questioned her best friend.

"Jesse might know something but Eli never bothered to stick around. I think he's somewhere in Australia, but I'll see what he knows. What about that other chick Cassiano chucking looks at Jay like that? She's so thirsty for dick its embarrassing" Hailey pondered. Did she really have a sister she knew nothing about?

Erin gave her a squeeze and a soft smile before leaving Hailey in the break room with a lot on her mind.

She paced around the room a bit before heading out to the bullpen where Emmy was still flaunting herself to Jay who was trying his best not to loose his shit and Erin was drilling holes through her back.

Which made Kim and Hailey stifle laughs. Until Voight came back out.

"So as you guys have met the agents from New York. We're lucky to have them as the FBI are working their own case on the pedophile ring, we got sent Upton and Cassiano because they have also been working on Johnny and his connections in Chicago. But decided to come on over when we busted him, he's still out there. Just because we couldn't make any murder charges stick without evidence from the children, and his DNA is still being tested from under Erin's fingers which is taking way too long for my liking. Anyhow, we need to catch him in the act alright?" Voight nodded as he handed the floor over to Cassiano.

"We've been trailing Johnny's crew for months in New York but couldn't make anything stick as we had barely any evidence. When your Sergeant emailed us about your kidnappings and killings we knew we had to make our way over to Chicago. Help you guys bust that bastard, so far we have no useful connections other than a cousin out in Humbolt Park but I doubt he'd be much help. He's been an addict for years, barely remember what he has for breakfast" Emmy said before everyone got back to digging.

They had to find some connection linking Johnny to the murder of four tender age children, being the ring leader of a pedophile ring and multiple sexual assault and abuse claims.

Time to nail this prick.
