The Ethan Yates case was still as hot as ever. Detectives from the FBI and New York were still stationed in Chicago after a month and a half of research and discoveries.

Captain Benson, Voight and Sergeant Upton were in Voights office deciding what to do next.

Ballistics had thankfully pulled through and the prints on the casings matched a Ollie McLeod. Who was Ethans third in command before Ortiz and Carlos were killed or in custody.

The DNA from under Amy's fingertips unfortunately matched Ethan Yates. Erin felt like throwing up. She remembered the whole thing with Nadia in an instant. Finding out she had been kidnapped, then going all the way to New York only to find her body in a ditch along with multiple more victims. Erin's heart longed for the girl. She could've accomplished so much. If only Erin hadn't tried to play hero...

She stopped her mind yet again from going too far when she was met with the three in charge standing outside Voights door. Determined looks on their faces.

"Alright. As you all know we have had a match to the shell casings, they match Ollie McLeod. The DNA from under our victim, Amy-Rose's fingernails matches our main suspect. Ethan Yates" As Captain Benson announced the name. It was like a wave of cool air had just hit the room, sending chills down everyone's spines.

Especially Erin and Jays'. They knew they had to be extremely vigilant right now with Ethan lurking in or around any corners they came across.

They were watching their sixes constantly. Jay had recently been staying at Erin's a lot more. Although he didn't object to the suggestion, he still felt like more could be done to keep them safe.

"So everyone. Get word out to your CI's wether they're in New York or Chicago I don't care. We have full access to the 1505 funds thanks to Deputy Superintendent Miller. Get word out, get the cash and get me some info. Get it now" Captain Benson concluded her briefing before everyone got back to work.

Jay walked over to Erin, he noticed her slightly tense demeanor. Worried about how she was handling this whole thing. He knew she was strong but he didn't exactly know how strong.

"Hey I've got a CI we can talk to near this cute little bakery. We could stop and get something to eat there" Jay offered his hand to help her up. She gracefully accepted it with a smile before speaking.

"Yeah I'll come with you. I also need to talk to you about Haddy" he looked at her confused. Why did she have to talk to him about their daughter?

The drive was fairly long as this CI was on the south side of Chicago. Jay and Erin drove in silence for a bit before the regular banter and jokes came along.

"So what's up with Haddy?" Jay was nervous. He didn't know what was going on and he didn't know if he'd like Erin's response to his question.

"I have some pretty weird news about her... Turns out, I have a sister too. The blood panels came back for her transplant which is another big decision. We're both matches, Hailey, Adam, Kim and Hadley are. So we can do the surgery, but it's actually in her blood panels. Does the name Shelby Matheson mean anything to you?" Jays eyes widened. Oh no... He didn't want to tell her like this.

"Uhm, I don't know how to say this but. Shelby Matheson is dead baby. She overdosed on a regular escort business because the guy spiked her drink then made her do more drugs. Overall it overloaded her system and she died because her heart couldn't take it. I'm so sorry babe" He intertwined his fingers with hers and planted a kiss on the back of her hand. Jay felt her stiffen a little before speaking.

"How do you know she's dead?" Erin's voice was quiet. Emotionless.

"Because I found her body" Jay was also quiet.

He didn't really feel like talking about that faithful evening. God damn he wished Erin was there with him. He would've run straight into her arms in an instant just longing for the comfort that it would bring.

They finally arrived at the meeting location for the CI and Jay hopped out of the car Erin on his tail.

They were meeting him at this run down pizza joint on the south side of Chicago. Which didn't bother Jay. He grew up in Canaryville and he knew it didn't bother Erin either. So they sat down at a booth and ordered coffees before a girl about the age of 15 walked into the joint.

Her hair was a mess, her eyes bloodshot and her body shaking. She was an addict. Erin thought instantly reminding her of Nadia. Or of herself.

The girl slid them a piece of paper, gave Erin a look and Jay a nod before quickly scurrying back out the door she came from. Jay picked up the piece of paper, snapped a photo and sent it to Mouse before paying for their coffees and heading out the door.

On their way out Jay accidentally ran into another woman with a stroller, he looked up for five seconds before realizing who it was.

"Maddy?" he stared at the girl for a bit.

"Hey Jay" She looked tired. Probably because of the tiny baby girl in the car seat. Erin looked confused, who was this chick?

"Who is this?" Erin's tone was cool. She tried not to look at Jay.

"This is Amaya. Your daughter" Maddy said the words Jay had prayed he would never hear except from Erin. He looked at her for a second before he saw the tears streaming down her face. He gave Maddy his card and mouthed 'Text me' before getting into his car.

Erin did the same but as soon as she was in, she didn't speak a word to Jay until he drove off.

What a massive fuck up.
He thought.

Maddy was supposed to stay away from Chicago. Hadn't she learnt anything from that night... He wasn't any good for anyone. He thought.

And maybe, just maybe he was right.
