Will and Erin rushed up to the floor where Hailey was being monitored.

They were met with loud beeps and noises of people running back and forth. In the middle of it all, Erin managed to focus her eyes on Haileys room.

Her monitor was flatlining and the doctors were performing CPR on her.

Adam came up behind Erin and put his hand on her shoulder, she jolted and smacked him off.

"Woah! What was that?" Adam asked surprised at Erin's reaction.

"Sorry. I just, I hope Hailey is okay" Erin said as she exhaled. Adam pulled her into a tight hug. With Jay, Kim and Hailey all being here it was stressful enough. Now they were trying to make sure her heart didn't stop.

After a few minutes a flatline beep was continuing on the monitor, Erin ran over to the glass and Will gave her a nod.

Erin didn't even know what had happened in the moment, her knees buckled under her and it felt like her whole world had been shattered.

She had lost her best friend.

Everyone in the waiting area was silent, Erin's cries and screams echoed through the hospital corridors.

Her whole body was shaking, she was incoherent.

Aside from when she left. Losing Hailey was the worst pain she had ever felt in her life. It felt like, her heart got ripped out of her chest.

She kept crying and sobbing for what seemed like hours when in reality it was only a few minutes before a beep was restored on the monitors.

Will looked at everyone in shock, he resumed CPR and they took the tube out so they could put a mask on her to breathe. Erin's heart stopped. Was she going to make it?

There was a rush in and out of her room for half an hour before Hailey woke suddenly with a jolt.

"Hailey!" Erin screeched while she was being held back.

"Erin" Hailey managed weakly before Erin pried free of Adams grasp and ran straight into Haileys arms.

She wrapped her hands around her neck and shoved her face into Haileys hair. Not wanting to let go.

Will tried to step forward to they could perform more tests but Voight stepped in and insisted they let Erin have a little time.

"I thought you were gone... There was a flatline for a while" Erin managed to whisper.

"You're my best friend Hails. I'm so sorry I wasn't there to protect you" she continued as her voice broke with each word.

Hailey kept Erin close.
"It's going to be okay Erin. I'm okay. Wheres everyone are they all okay? Wheres Kim? Wheres Jay I thought he'd be here?" Hailey was much more alert and worried now. Always putting others needs ahead of her own.

The gown was short sleeved so Erin got another good look at Haileys arms. Her heart twinged as she gently traced the scars on her best friends arms, she reached out for her hands.

"I got your back. That's a promise. I'm with you" she said softly.

"Until the wheels come off" Hailey finished her sentence. Erin's face lit up slightly with a smile.

She had remembered saying that to Hailey a couple months ago when a case went sideways and Hailey got caught in the middle.

Hailey and Erin were securing the back of the building. Adam, Jay, Al, Voight and Antonio were inside. Kim was their lookout in the van with Mouse.

Hailey signaled for Erin to cover her whilst they looked for her CI. He had been kidnapped and was being forced to leak the names of other CPD CI's to some drug lord. He refused and took a beating or two according to the videos they were sent.

Hailey rounded the corner and found a body, not her CI but another man.

"Body" she whispered to Erin and keyed the radio as they both made their way quietly before hearing a noise come from behind them.

"CPD whos there?" Erin yelled out. There was another clatter and a man with a gun emerged.

"Cam, Cam it's me. It's Hailey" Hailey said to the scared man. Her CI, Cam. Erin knew about him, she'd been close with him for years. Picked him up off the streets as a junkie and he was addicted to helping cops now. Doing everything he could.

"Cam drop the gun" Hailey said as she inched slowly towards the offender.

"Don't take another step!" Cam yelled at Hailey. He was probably scared and confused.

"Cam it's me. This is my best friend Erin. I trust her. We want to help you" Hailey started softly.

"No! You people never want to help anyone but yourselves! You're glorified killers" Cam said as he raised his weapon.

But before he got the chance to fire, Hailey let a bullet rip. Catching him right in the shoulder and sending him flying backwards. She had just shot her own CI. But before she had any more time to think the rest of her unit showed up and she walked away.

Erin ran after her best friend, she had to help.

"Hailey!" Erin yelled as she ran behind her friend.

"Just go back to the district Erin I'm fine" Hailey called back before trying to get in her car. Erin stopped her and grabbed her hands.

"Hailey Voight said this to me when I needed his help. So I'm going to say it to you. I'm with you until the wheels come off. That's a promise" and with that said. Hailey finally let her walls down again.

She sobbed and screamed. Confused. Distraught. Lost. You name it Hailey could've been feeling it. But through all of it Erin was there to support her.

The girls stayed in each other's company. Forever cherishing the warmth of each other's embrace before Will came back in.

"Hey Hailey, Erin" he said as he nodded to both officers. "You're a true medical miracle and mystery you know that blondie" Will said as he playfully ruffled her hair.

"Hailey is anything but a mystery. I've got her all figured out" Erin said as she winked to her best friend as they got wrapped in each others arms again.

Not wanting to let go. Because, with what they had been through neither of them wanted to loose each other. And they promised.

So promise they'd keep.
