Erin woke up suddenly after being shook awake, she looked around for a moment to get her bearings. She was in the break room. A huge wave of relief flooded through her body.

"Erin?" The voice questioned. She turned around and it was Hailey. The blonde had her signature soft smile across her face and her braided hair fell just in front of her eyes.

Erin didn't want to admit it but she envied her best friend. How pretty Hailey had always been compared to her.

"They managed to leverage some information out of Carlos. Turns out, Ethan and his crew paid Carlos to track you and Max down. To kill you. He said it was "long awaited payback" whatever that means" Hailey said unknowingly cause a huge wave of panic to overcome Erin.

He knows. She thought.
He knows and he's out to get me. Again.

She had too much to loose. Haddy couldn't be left in this world without a mother.

Jay would check out completely, he wouldn't want to be left with a daughter that he didn't even know about until she was kidnapped.

Erin felt panicked and guilty. She didn't want the unit to find out about this even though Voight and Jay already knew.

When Hailey would find out that Erin lied to her this whole time, that whenever Hailey asked if she knew anything that could help Erin denied it. She didn't want to make it a bigger drama than what it was. Which was self defense, that's what it was.

"Don't touch that. It's probably been there for weeks"

"Ew what the hell. Max you don't live out of your car. Why is there ages old, Taco Bell? In your car?" Erin lifted up a piece of wrapper that had something furry in it. And immediately threw it out the window.

"Curtis shut the hell up right now before I pull over and kick you out"

"Nah man come on I need this just as badly as you do. Plus Ortiz is my man, I know he'll do us good" Curtis over confidently chuckled to himself as he nearly got thwacked over the head with a plastic Coke bottle.

"You're an idiot" Erin teased as she put the plastic bottle back on the ground where it came from.

The drive wasn't too long and soon enough they were stopping in this weird parking lot with no cars or people in sight. Erin didn't think too much of it as this is usually what kind of scenery drug deals have.

A few minutes later a silver mustang pulls up. It looks like Kelly's, Erin thought to herself referring to the Squad 3 Lieutenant over at Firehouse 51 whom she was still close to even while being on the outs.

She cleared her mind as a man exited the vehicle, this must be Ortiz.

"Yo man whats good" Curtis said as he fist bumped the new guy. Ortiz didn't seem happy at all, he treated Curtis like a brother but his whole vibe was just off. He was standing tense, watching. Like he was going to get shot right in between the eyes any minute.

Curtis pulled out the bag of cash and threw it on the ground,

"68k. All there" Ortiz moved forward to inspect the bag and count the cash. As he moved downward Erin saw a flash of silver in his waistband. If being a cop taught her anything it was to always let the offender swing or shoot first.

Then whatever happens can be deemed as self defense.

Ortiz continued to rummage through the bag before standing up again,

"Where's the rest?" Erin and Max exchanged a look before backing towards the car. Curtis moved forward to be closer to Ortiz.

"Whatcha mean the rest? Bro it's all there" Curtis said before a flash caught Erin's eye and Curtis' body fell to the ground.

She didn't even think for a second before pulling out her own gun and shooting the man standing over her friends body.

Max and Erin ran towards the two and shoved Ortiz off before tending to Curtis' wounds. He had a gunshot his left side that was stuck inside him, the ambo would take too long and Curtis was a goner.

Erin went over and picked up Ortiz's body before dragging it into their car. Max looked at her confused. She sadly nodded to get in the car.

"911 what is your emergency?" the woman on the voice sounded nice. Poor thing.

"I think um, I think we heard gunshots somewhere and lots of screaming. Please send help" Erin said quietly into the phone before hanging up and giving Max an apologetic look.

They kept driving until they reached the other side of Chicago completely. Now they could finish what they started.

"I killed him" Erin was brought back into reality with that simple thought. Hailey stared at her, dumbfounded.

"Killed who?" She looked extremely worried.

"Jaxson Ortiz. Jennifer's brother. And Ethans henchman. That's why they sent Carlos. In order it went, Ethan, Ortiz, Carlos then this little guy called McLeod. He did all of the dirty work like cleaning up crime scenes and stuff. No way he's involved" Erin's tone was grim. She knew Hailey would be shocked but she didn't know how shocked exactly.

Someone knocking on the door snapped Erin out of her trance, it was Jay. He looked worried which made Erin worry.

"It's Helen. Something happened with Haddy" Jay said biting the inside of his cheek as Erin and Hailey both jolted up and headed for the car.

They arrived at Med not even a couple minutes after, Jay ran in to find his brother.

It didn't take him long as Will was outside Haddys room. The poor girl looked just like Erin all those months ago, she had tubes and wires sticking out of her arms and body just to keep her alive.

"What happened?" Erin held Jays hand tight. Preparing for the worst.

"We have no idea" Will said bluntly. Jays mind was a blur, Haddy was in hospital and they had no idea why. What kind of crap is this?

Erin lightly pulled him away and shoved her head into his chest. Not only did he have to be strong for her, but he had to be strong for his little girl who'd need his strength if she woke up.

But that was a big if.
