Erin sighed, she knew that she trusted Jay with everything that she had. But this? This goes way beyond a level of trust.

This is a matter of life or death. More specifically her life or his.

"Max and I, we used to be in a crew" Erin finally admitted. Jay wasn't incredibly shocked to say the least.

"There was only a couple of us, we didn't even have a name. It was basically just a bunch of junkies that hung out near B.Y and did, you know. Stuff. Until one day, a couple months before you guys picked me up. Max and I along with our friend Curtis, we found another crew. A crew that had drugs, I'm pretty sure Ethan was in it. They sold us drugs, but we didn't buy directly from him. We bought from one of his little henchmen called Jaxson, Jaxson Ortiz" Erin sighed. She knew she had to come clean.

"We showed up at the place of the deal and when Ortiz pulled out the drugs. Curtis pulled out the cash. Apparently, Jaxsons boss has upped the prices in an hour and we were 2 grand short. Ortiz shot Curtis. So we killed him and burned his body" Erin's tone was grim. Jay knew she had just told a secret that she wanted to hold to.

After a few minutes of silence Jay grabbed Erin's hand.

"So what does the shooting have to do with all this? Are you sure it's not a whole thing like Yates and um, Nadia?" Jay said quietly. Erin's body was frozen on the spot. She let a small tear escape from her eye.

It was times like these where she wished she had Nadia.

The young woman could make any bad day turn out alright with just a joke or a laugh. She really lit up the room and her humor was to die for.

Erin was proud of how far she got before her... unfortunate fate.

"I don't know Jay. Either way, I'm avenging Nadia. She deserved better. If Ethan knows Max and I killed Ortiz, he waited for Max and I to be separated before he made a move. Hoping to kill me first then get Max" Erin's voice was still cold and tense. Jay could sense the anger radiating off her body.

"Erin, we will find him. But you need to tell Voight. Because we need to catch this guy" Jay finally said. Erin knew he was right but she really didn't want to.

With a reassuring hand squeeze and kiss on the forehead. Erin walked over to Voight and Jay walked over to Kim and Hailey.

"We might finally have a new lead" he said bitterly as he watched Voights body language as Erin spoke to him about Max, Curtis and Ortiz.

"That's good. Why do you seem to stressed out then?" Kim put a hand on his shoulder.

"I don't like this at all guys. Something feels wrong but I don't know what yet" Jay sighed as the girls patted his back. He continued to observe the Lindsay and Voight conversation.

"That's all of it" Erin sighed. Admitting defeat. Voight just stood there.

"Well I wish you would've told me sooner" he finally said.

"I know and I'm sorry Hank but I just I didn't know what to do and I wasn't even in the Unit or anything so I couldn't" Voight just pulled Erin into a hug and felt her wrap her arms around him.

"It's okay kid. I know it must've been tough. So let's pinch this son of a bitch" Voight said as he walked over to the rest of the crew.

"Got anything at all?" he asked impatiently.

"Max's phone revealed a couple calls to this number, registered to a burner phone which was bought at a convenience store three blocks from here" Adam said as he pointed the laptop to Voight.

"You and Burgess take it" He nodded the team off as Antonio and Al approached.

"We have a lead on the suspect fleeing on foot, we got a hit off a camera outside a jewelry store a couple streets down. We have an address" Antonio showed his boss.

"You two take Atwater and Upton. Hit it" The rest of the team headed off.

Voight then turned to Jay and Erin, who were resting comfortably in each other's arms.

"You two need to go back to the district. Find out where Max was killed and retrace his steps ok? I want to know everything about his last day up to the shooting got it?" Both detectives nodded and Erin headed to her car whilst Voight beckoned Jay over.

"Take care of her ok?" He said in an overprotective dad like way.

"I always do" Jay said as the men exchanged a handshake and headed off in their own separate ways.

The drive to the district was long, their crime scene wasn't far but somehow the traffic was more backed up than usual.

"Anything else you wanna share?" Jay tapped his hands on the steering wheel.

"Hmm?" Erin questioned in her tone.

"I don't know like what else did you get up to? You know like any more bodies or boyfriends I should know about?" Erin sensed the hit of anger in Jays tone.

"No, and even if there was its in the past for a reason" Erin sighed.

"Yeah until it bubbles over like it did today" Jay scoffed.

"What's wrong Jay? You've been distant and off for weeks. Just talk to me" Erin pleaded him as she reached for his hand. He pulled it away and continued staring at the road.

"What like you talked to me about how you knew my cousin, killed a guy and then opened up this whole case. Your case. For us instead of doing it weeks ago? Erin come on. You know better than this" Jay said with a hollow laugh. Erin felt guilty.

"Jay that's not fair you know that" She tried to speak softly. His eyes turned to her and they practically burned holes in hers.

Why was he so mad about this?
