1. Different Worlds
Costia wished she could start over, go back to the point where it all went wrong. But sixteen years was probably a too long period of time to go back. So right now, she only wished she wouldn't have forgotten to go to the grocery store.
She looked out of the windows of her apartment, they gave her a view over the old buildings from Washington, DC. She thought about actually getting a life, one which wasn't all about killing. Maybe she didn't need to go back, just start over. She thought about this quite often, but what would be there to live for? She had no one who cared for her and she cared for no one, that was practical whilst being a killer, but not when wanting a family. So she planned on sticking with the killing.
The phone which was laying on the kitchen table rang, the sound made Costia look up. It was late in the night, but clients never seemed to care about that. Somehow it annoyed the woman, but she was awake anyway.
"Hello?" she sighed, looking at the clock on the counter of the kitchen.
"You're the White Shadow?" a man asked, through the phone he sounded anxious to Costia. She couldn't really tell, it was still just a phone call after all. The name set off an uneasy feeling, it held memories. Still, Costia couldn't let go of it.
"Yes, what's the offer?" she asked, getting straight to the point. She didn't want to talk to the man any longer than she had to. The longer she talked, the longer someone had time to find her location. She actually liked DC, she planned on staying a little while longer, so she couldn't use someone leaking her address. There were people she had wronged in her past, people who'd enjoy to torture and kill her. She couldn't risk staying at one place for too long.
Also, the White Shadow wasn't known for holding nice conversations, she was known for killing. Fast and clean. Black Widow's killed with pain, but the White Shadow killed with strategy.
"I give you 50 thousand for killing one man."
"Deal. Send me the data and the money. I'll call you when it's done." she said, hanging up right after.
She sighed while walking back over to her bed, taking back her previous position. She picked her knife up from her bedside table and twirled it around in her hand. It calmed her down. She grabbed her laptop to search for a new place to stay. She liked it here in DC, but she was still a realist and knew it wouldn't be safe to stay too long.
Two notifications popped up on her phone, the information from the man she was supposed to kill and the money. Closing her laptop she took the phone and opened the file. Tall male, white, 32 years old, no children and as expected, he got a whole lot of money.
She laid her white suit on the coffee table, along with the white face mask which covered half of her face and multiple guns and knives. Costia quickly took a shower and got herself ready to leave.
She always had one knife in her hand or pocket, she needed it to feel safe. It was actually kind of ridiculous because she was one of the best assassins in the world and could kill someone in countless ways just with her bare hands. That wasn't a part of her she was proud of, there wasn't any part of herself she was proud of actually, but it helped her to stay alive.
With the white suit and the white face mask on she got in her car and drove to the coordinates the guy sent her. She knew the white suit was painfully obvious, but she just couldn't let go of it. The suit was a part of the White Shadow and that was just who she was, if she liked it or not.
She parked her car 5 minutes away from the mansion where the man she had to kill lived, in a dark street. She walked the distance left, she didn't want to get a new car because someone saw her enter or leave the mansion.
