Always
The flight to Sokovia went by incredibly slow, Costia checked her clock every few minutes. Sadly the time didn't go magically faster. The worry about Natasha kept her pulse on a maximum the whole time.
Wanda and Pietro watched how Costia pace around in the jet, not getting the rest she needed for the fight. They knew it all too well from their time at Hydra with her. She always worried too much.
Wanda read Costias mind, she didn't do it on purpose. She just did it that often that it was a habit now, she couldn't let go of it.
Costia noticed which made her finally stop with her pacing. She abruptly turned around to the brown haired woman, Pietro looked at her confused.
"Get the hell out of my mind, Wanda." Costia warned as she looked down at the twins.
"I don't do it on purpose. I don't like doing it." Wanda said, her accent audible as always, "And I'm really sorry I did that thing back at the ship. Especially with what I know about your past, I shouldn't have done that. I thought you were the bad one and Ultron gave me no choice. But I could've still decided not to do it. Costia, really, I am so, so-"
"It's okay." Costia said. She knew Wanda, she still was the person Costia had spent a whole lot of her past with. She was still the person Costia had cared for, she was still the same.
Costia sat down next to the twins. She realized that Wanda wore Natashas jacket. The blonde actually borrowed it once or twice too.
She wasn't sure if she minded Wanda wearing it. Considering it reminded her of Natasha who was currently abducted she wasn't too happy about it. At the end it was just a jacket though. That belonged to the love of her life. But still just a jacket.
"That doesn't belong to you." Costia eyed the jacket Wanda was wearing. Pietro shifted in his seat, like he was uncomfortable.
"You gave it to her." Costia smiled, she didn't need her powers to recognize that Pietro was lying. He wasn't very good at it.
He never was. When he screwed up Costia was the one who lied him out of it, he would've just made things worse.
"I'm sorry-" Wanda started again, Costia held her hand up.
"It's alright." the blonde smiled at the twins, "I know you two didn't mean harm. You never wanted anyone to get hurt. Well anyone but the Avengers." she chuckled, "Still, it's alright."
Wanda breathed out, visibly relaxed.
"We missed you, you know." Pietro smiled too, he didn't even realize how much the absence of Costia in his life had affected him. They questioned where Costia went way too many times but all Hydra gave them were empty phrases.
"All right." Steve interrupted their moment when he stepped in the middle of the jet, "Ultron knows we're coming. Odds are we'll be riding into heavy fire. And that's what we signed up for. But the people of Sokovia, they didn't." he said, the Quinjet was almost at the Sokovian base. It were just minutes until they arrived now.
"So our priority is getting them out." Steve continued with his hero speech, "All they want is to live their lives in peace. And that's not gonna happen today. But we can do our best to protect them. And we can get the job done."
He continued with the plan, "We find out what Ultron's been building. We find Romanoff," he looked at Costia, everyone else too. "and we clear the field. Keep the fight between us." he ordered.
"Ultron thinks we're monsters. That we're what's wrong with the world. This isn't just about beating him. It's about whether he's right." he said as Clint landed the plane, they all walked out quickly.
