Discussion

They had been arguing for what felt like forever. The Avengers were all in the living room area, wildly discussing about if they should sign or not. Natasha and Costia were both rather quite, the blonde had already made up their mind.

Costia watched everyone in the room, she was pretty sure almost everyone had made up their mind. She saw it on the way they talked or reacted to certain statements.

"Secretary Ross has a Congressional Medal of Honour which is one more than you have." Rhodey was arguing with Sam.

"Doesn't make him less of a ignorant and stupid alpha male." Costia said but was greatly ignored by the two.

"So let's say we agree to this thing. How long is it gonna be before they LoJack us like a bunch of common criminals." Sam said loudly as he crossed his arms. Tony slid down on the chair he was sitting on and laid a hand over his face.

"117 countries want to sign this. 117, Sam, and you're just like, 'No, that's cool. We got it.'" Rhodey said. Costia never liked him much, he was just so effortlessly mean. Yeah, she was too but that wasn't the point. He had other negative flaws.

"How long are you gonna play both sides?" Sam questioned. Costia was sure Rhodey already made up his mind, sign the damn accords it was.

"I have an equation." Vision interrupted them from his position on a chair.

"Oh, this will clear it up." Sam said as he turned to him as everyone else in the room, even Steve looked up from the Sokovian Accords he was currently reading. Costia did her best to not look too annoyed when she looked at Vision, it probably didn't work.

"In the eight years since Mr. Stark announced himself as Iron Man the number of known enhanced persons has grown exponentially. During the same period the number of potentially world-ending events has risen at a commensurate rate."

Steve looked at him sceptical, "Are you saying it's out fault?" the Captain asked what everyone in the room was thinking. He looked like Vision had just insulted him in the worst way possible.

"I'm saying there may be a causality. Our very strength invites challenge. Challenge incites conflict. And conflict breeds catastrophe. Oversight... Oversight is not an idea that can be dismissed out of hand."

Costia thought about his words, it wasn't like what he said wasn't true. She was his opinion, yeah strength invited challenge. But it already happened, the strength was invited. Also the accords wouldn't change a damn thing about that.

"Boom." Rhodey said as he turned to Sam. Costia rolled her eyes again.

The blonde glanced at Rhodey, she couldn't stand his bullshit anymore. "Boom, my ass." the blonde said as she walked over to him, "Let's say what Vision said was true, we do in fact invite challenge. I don't even doubt that." she said as she pointed at herself. "But that challenge is already here, and it's out there. It's not gonna back away because we say 'Oh, sorry. We can't come in right now', that doesn't make it magically disappear. There is noone but us who could fight the threats we face, do you really think someone like Loki would back away because we'd work under the government?" Costia asked rhetorical.

"No. That's bullshit." she answered herself. "Yes, we may be the cause of what happened in Sokovia, but that's exactly the reason why we should be the ones to make up for it. Yes, eleven people died a week ago, but what if we hadn't been there to stop the biological attack? If we sign these accords it doesn't make the outcome better. Its only aftermath is that we can't come in to fight and if we're allowed to, we would be too late because the governmemt had to think about it for a minute." she kept looking at Rhodey, he didn't look convinced.
