It was one week after the mission in Lagos, what happened was still all over the news. Eleven people had died due the explosion. They were Wakandans, people from a folk in Africa, on an outreach mission. Their king and the other Wakandans mourned the eleven deaths.
Wanda hadn't left her room much, only to eat, drink or go to the bathroom. She was blaming herself, the news she watched most of the time weren't helping her guilt.
Costia walked by Wandas room on her way from the kitchen to her and Natashas room, exceptionally the door wasn't locked. The blonde stepped in the room, leaning on the doorframe. Wanda was sitting on her bed watching the news, again.
Costia hated that she couldn't help Wanda, she tried so many things but she just keeps shutting her out. The blonde turned off the TV, the remote laid on a cupboard next to the door.
That's when Wanda teared her eyes away from the screen and looked at Costia, the older woman smiled at her. Wanda looked away again, she pulled the long sleeved shirt she had on over her hands.
"It's my fault." she looked to the ground, avoiding Costias eyes. Her sokovian accent was audible as always, it pained Costia because of how much it reminded her of Pietro.
Costia looked down to, she felt like she failed as Wandas friend. Wanda looked up to her and now she couldn't help her.
"That's not true." Costia said while crossing her arms infront of her chest. She hated that Wanda blamed herself when she felt like she was the one to blame. If she just arrived earlier she could've helped Wanda and none of this would've happened.
Wanda turned to the blonde, her face looked a little pale. "Turn the TV back on. They're being very specific." the brunette said, Costia walked over to her.
She sat down on the bed next to Wanda, "I should've arrived there earlier. And I should've helped you with Rumlow." the blonde said, trying to lift the guilt of Wandas shoulders.
Costia carried so much guilt on her back that eleven people less or more didn't make much of a difference, how sad it sounded. She still felt the same way, nothing changed.
But Wanda did, it was the first time she was the reason someone died. The first time lives were destroyed because of her. Costia didn't want her to carry that weight.
Wanda sighed as she crossed her legs on the bed, "I just wish it didn't happen." she said unhappy, glancing over at Costia who had the same expression.
"We try to save as many people as we can. Sometimes that doesn't mean everybody." the blonde said softly as she laid a hand on Wandas knee, "We have to find a way to live with that... or next time maybe nobody gets saved." she smiled.
Suddenly Vision walked through the wall, scaring the shit out of Costia who obviously didn't hear him coming.
"Vis! We talked about this." Wanda exclaimed as she looked at the red body. He had normal clothes on, he was almost dressed too formal.
Vision pointed to the door as he spoke, "Yes, but the door was open so I assumed that..." he trailed off as he realised maybe Wanda was right. "I just wanted to inform Costia Reyonoff that Mr. Stark just arrived." he told Wanda, Costia nodded at him.
"Thanks, Vision. We'll be right down." the blonde smiled at him. Tony had announced that he'd come to the compound today, he just didn't say why.
"I'll use the door." Vision said as he walked towards the exit of the room, "Oh, and apparently, he's brought a guest." he added as he stopped at the door.
