How wonderful it is
To not be on fire!

The climate is changing
Do the flames not grow higher?

The earth is suffering,
This much is true.
But I tell you the heat,
Hasn't touched me or you.

I don't understand,
The signs point to zero.

I know what you speak of,
But I've found my own hero.

Heroes and heroines,
They're only in stories.
Our world is dying,
Maxed out of its quarries.

I know which you speak,
I see the decay.

Then why are you joyed,
Why aren't you dismayed?

I lived and I died,
But I found a new champion.
They've taught me my world,
Surpasses that which we stand in.

An afterlife you say?
Never thought you this way.

No, don't be silly,
Existence is fleeting.

I thought I was done.
I thought it was all over.
Then up rose a phoenix,
From ashen young lovers.

Why speak of love,
Care you not for surroundings?

I cared long enough,
Love conquers, it's grounding.

Ahh, you are moved,
Yet you're here just the same.
Do you find that your love,
May have set you aflame?

In the past I was burned,
And the burning remained.
Every look, every touch,
Burned me just the same.

So the flesh of your mind,
Is that which you speak?
Not waters or lands,
The earth that grows weak.

I feel for her,
Truly I do.
I know what it's like,
To be seared by my food.

Food, did you say?
What mean you this time?
Do you only exist,
For the sake of a rhyme?

Are we not all,
Flesh burnt more in time?
Do we not all,
Become hers in her mines?

The circle of life?
It is quite a force.
What happens when life,
Can sustain you no more?

I shall die, I suppose,
But now I don't fret it.
For my burning is over,
My soul has been mended.

How lucky you are,
To feel one with your food.
Don't eat til you choke,
You might find love is crude.

I know there's a risk,
I know burnings desire.
But how wonderous it is,
To not be on fire!
