I'm growing a bit tired
of all these big storms,
Coming swiftly in the night,
While I'm quietly moored.
They knock the wind out my sails,
So I roll them back up.
Try to keep them maintained,
For later heading towards the sun.
The waves take to tossing,
A bit fun at first,
If you like dreadful moments,
Before threats of your hearse.
They throw me around,
And try to tip me over.
But if I flip, I might drown.
Lost gravity's center.
Thrashing my arms,
With salt clouding my eyes,
I can't see what's up
Or where to fasten my ties.
Then there's the air,
Gusting so rapidly.
Taunting my lungs,
Should they not be listening.
The rains, how they pour!
The cries of these guised skies.
How they long for aid,
From a siren's sure demise.
They fall back to the sea,
Thunderously.
A repeated cycle,
Viscious and unseen.
Currents rush underneath,
As my round bottom rocks.
Pulling at my taught chords,
Tugging anchor 'gainst rocks.
Scraping along,
Encouraging direction,
These currentsing seems
Move much faster than rapids.
And I can't keep up,
So I hold fast to my line.
Holding me to the ground,
While tossed in violent sea's ides.
Some days it'll snap,
And I drift out with the tides.
Wake up on the deck,
Surprised I made it alive.
Look out 'cross the sea,
As I come to my senses.
The storm drifting away,
Relieving distant flashes.
And then there's the stillness—
The quiet left in the wake.
Not a ripple in glass,
Reflections on intake.
I look down at myself,
She's so smooth and so fair
Catch my breath for a while,
Untangle knots in my hair.
I let down my sails,
They drip in the air.
Dip my toes o'er the ledge
No movement under there.
My sheets never move,
Unless I shake them around.
Ring out all the remnants,
Still weighing them down.
So I sit and I watch
These storms disappear on horizons.
Waiting for better winds,
Much calmer to rise in.
My eyes slowly droop—
I'm tired, not bored.
Another crack from behind,
More storms to throw me overboard.
