Are you ok?
Do you want the honest answer or the professional answer?
Honest.
It's been a while but...
It feels like what I remember breakups feeling like. But the mutual kind.
Which is almost worse because there's no anger or hate driving you apart. Just the painful fact that the other person was going where you couldn't follow. No matter how badly you wanted to walk with them.
Even though you came to know them and grow with them and understand them, the reality is that you're on different paths.
Made of different material.
They're a diesal truck on cobblestone and you're a bike on pavement.
And no matter the signs pointing in the same direction, you can't take the same road.
They can take the high.
And you, you can only take the low.
Ride the gravity down with hopes you'll make it on time.
Maybe you will.
Maybe you will meet at the end.
But it's more than likely that when you do you get there, they'll just be disappearing on that horizon.
And you'll head towards your own at a different time and inevitably a different place.
Sometimes you won't know until you reach that fork and find out you're all out of spoons.
And a fork...just won't cut it.
