Ria gasped, picked up the picture and stared at it. She slowly realised why Luna had sent her here. This house, this village... it is the place where she and Zak were born. At the sight of the picture, Ria was in tears. She carefully put it back on the shelf. Even her home had not been spared by the skeletons.
Ria's Point of View
I hardly remembered this place, but here we were, still a family before everything changed drastically... I discovered an old closet and crawled around in there. There had to be something helpful in there. Suddenly, my fingers touched a leathery surface. I couldn't see what I was touching, but it felt like a book. Carefully I pulled it out of the drawer. I wiped the dust off the cover of the book and tried to decipher the headline, but it seemed to be an old language of the Beruians. I opened the first page, which was completely yellowed. 'Dear Diary, another boring day at the court. But when I was on patrol today[...].' I eagerly followed the text. '[...] Yours, Jeira.' When I read the last sentence, the air got stuck in my throat. It was my mother's diary. It had survived the fire... I continued to flip through until I came across some interesting drawings, but when I slowly realised what the drawings were supposed to mean, I took the diary and ran out.
Maru had been waiting for me the whole time. "Ria, is something wrong?" "Well, maybe I found what I was looking for." I looked at him. "Do you want to stay here?" Maru said nothing. "We can take you to a safe place." Maru smiled. "Well then, I'll come with you."
While we trudged through the forest, Maru had to grin. "I knew your parents." Surprised, I turned around. "We were good friends and your dad asked me to wait for you to come back here."

Ria turned forward again but the drawings in her mother's diary could not go out of her head. Now she knew why she was 'left behind,' she knew what was happening to her mother and she knew that it was actually no coincidence when Zak landed in the triangle.
Only a few minutes later, they reached the Chaos. She remained friendly but an enormous anger was brewing in her body. "Guys, this is Maru Kamikona. He lived in the village where I grew up and I promised to take him to a safe place." Cece smiled and set the Chaos in motion while Ria stared at the island the whole time.
Why did she do that? Why had it changed so much?
But: Why HER?
