Zak Storm - The Chosen One

Ria stared at Zak. She could not intervene, she knew that he had a plan, but what kind was a mystery to her. "We can't just stand around here and do nothing!" said Cece angrily, but Ria held her back. "Zak gave us freedom, and he has a plan. Believe me... this will work." "And what kind of plan is it supposed to be?" Ria shrugged her shoulders. "I think a pretty crazy one." Cece rolled her eyes. "Of course, I was hoping for something else. I feel much better." 

Skullivar held the amulet and Calabrass in his hands, gave Bones a signal and he let go of Zak. "Come here!" He walked up the steps. "Touch the amulet with one hand, and Calabrass with the other." Zak obeyed and touched both. Skullivar began to recite some incantation while Zak closed his eyes and transferred his energy to the artefacts. The moment Skullivar was in a trance, Zak saw his chance. He opened his eyes and cut the connection, which confused Skullivar and the summoning was aborted. An explosion followed and when Skullivar stood up again, he realised that he was not holding Calabrass or the amulet in his hands. "That was your plan?" asked Calabrass somewhat angrily. "What do you mean? Didn't it work out?" Calabrass rolled his eyes. "Poseidon, stand by me..." he murmured. Skullivar growled at Zak. "Did you seriously believe that I would give you the power that can destroy us all? If anyone here is naive, that's you!" Zak threw the amulet at Ria. "Let me guess, that was improvised?" "Guilty, your honour," Zak said playfully and bowed. Cece looked at the Storm siblings a little annoyed. "You two are the craziest people I've ever met!" "Well, what do you want to do?" they both replied at the same time. 

While Cece and the others disassembled the skeletons into their individual parts, Ria and Zak, Bones and Skullivar sized each other up. Zak ignited a thunderstorm, but Skullivar formed a protective shield. As the storm subsided, Zak fired a jet of water. "Argh! This isn't doing anything! Ria, I can't stand up against him!" Ria did not hesitate for long and pulled Zak aside. "Here!" she said, pulling the amulet off her neck and giving it to Zak. He accepted it a little hesitantly. "You can do more with it than I can." "But the thing gives you all your strength. You can't fight anymore without it." "Zak, you are the Chosen One and you have been given the task of putting an end to Skullivar. I will help you by giving you my power. Trust me, if you take Calabrass in addition, it will increase your strength massively." "What will become of you then?" "I'll get along," Ria said encouragingly. 

Zak stepped forward again and faced Skullivar. He took a deep breath and looked at Calabrass. "Are you ready?" "Since I was born, captain!" Skullivar grinned spitefully. "Now it's just you and me, Green Skull!"
