Completely dazed, Zak stared at Calabrass. "Well I, in your place, would turn around so Skullivar can't knock you out!" He was able to turn around at the last moment and fend off Skullivar's blow. Ria moved away from her brother. "Okay, we're doing this: You fire what you can, and I'll give you backup." "But-" "No buts! You must finally show Skullivar your strength! I believe in you." Zak nodded resolutely. "Okay, let's do it!"
Zak summoned a fireball and increased its size. He hurled it at Skullivar, and Ria emitted a lightning strike. Skullivar began to falter. "It worked!" remarked Zak in amazement. Ria nodded to him and they repeated the attack.
But before Ria could fire again, Bones approached her and grabbed her from behind. "Let me go, you Golden Rattle Rack!" Zak noticed his sister's cries for help and turned away from Skullivar, forming a fireball. "Let her go!" he began in a daring tone. "I would think carefully about what your powers could do. They might bring me down, but I don't know if your sister can stand up to it." Zak took turns, looking from Bones to Ria. "If you hurt even a hair of her-" "Then what?" countered Bones.
Zak raised his hand. Bones lifted his arm higher and began to squeeze Ria's neck until she began to roll her eyes. "I would decide quickly. Give yourself up and I may have grace." "No... Zak... don't do it..." Ria squeezed out. Zak sighed and lowered his hand, and the fireball was extinguished. "Clever boy," Bones said contentedly and he let go of Ria. She touched her throat and started coughing, then looked at Zak. "Why did you do that?" "I couldn't let Bones kill you." Zak looked at his sister sadly, as two skeletons came from behind and dragged him away. "Zak, please!" Ria shouted after him. She went to run after him but she was stopped by skeletons.
"Well, Storm, you're not as strong as everyone claims." Zak didn't say a word at first. He put Calabrass on the floor and raised his hands. "What are you doing?" whispered Calabrass angrily. "Trust me," Zak replied, just as a whisper. "I'll make you an offer," Zak began. Skullivar became interested. "I hear you!" Zak looked at his friends and then Skullivar again. "I give myself to you and you give freedom to my friends. You have nothing to lose anyway, and you just need me and Calabrass to build the machine you need." "Give me Chronos's amulet as well, and we're in business."
Skullivar nodded to his skeletons and one went to rip the chain off Ria's neck. "Don't touch me!" Zak nodded to her, and she hesitantly gave the soldier the amulet, and he brought it to his master. "Finally! I have the power of the Seven Eyes and Chronos in my possession!" "Zak! You can't do this!" He overheard his sister's cries. Zak looked at Skullivar expectantly. "I did my part, so now, you have to keep your word." Skullivar snapped his fingers, and the skeleton blockage around his friends withdrew. Bones pressed Zak to his knees. "Now, you belong to me again, Storm!"
