Thankfully you heard voices drifting from the kitchen; one of them slightly annoyed and one of them respectfully calm. Thank goodness, you mother must've returned home. Maybe she'd help you forget about last night? Or at least give you a hug. All you wanted was some sort of comfort. So, after rubbing your eyes, you stumbled out of the living room and wandered into the kitchen, noticing that your mother was talking to someone. A grey-haired man, sitting at the table. But you didn't recognise him.
"Miss (L/n), if I could just speak to your child—"
"Absolutely not! With all due respect Dr. Loomis, I can't allow you to speak with my daughter. She's been through enough already."
"But she was close to Michael - even closer than his mother, dare I say. She could be the key to figuring out what's going on in Michael's mind!"
"Quite frankly I don't give a damn about that boy's mental state! All I care about is my daughter's wellbeing, and this...this has mentally scarred her! In fact—" Your mother stopped talking as she spotted you standing there - stiffening up when she wondered how to continue this conversation.
"Who's this, Mom?" Tilting your head to the side, you stifled a yawn and shifted your attention towards the grey-haired man; now growing curious.
"Oh, (Y/n), this is—"
"My name is Dr. Samuel Loomis and I'm a child psychologist. It's a pleasure to meet you, (Y/n)." He introduced himself to you softly, holding his hand out and waiting to see if you'd shake it.
"Hello." You shook his hand sleepily; suddenly feeling tremendously timid.
"Would you mind if I talked to you?" Dr. Loomis asked you in particular, his question aggravating your mother.
"What about?" You cocked your head in confusion, not understanding what he meant while your reply amused him.
"About Michael. You knew him, didn't you? From what I've been told, you two were friends." He calmly responded. "Is that true...? Did you know him...?" You didn't know what to say; your mind deliberating over whether to cry, whether to ignore his question, or whether to answer as honestly as you could.
"That's enough, Dr. Loomis! You're going to upset her!" Your mother snapped in annoyance, beginning to glare in his direction.
"I need to know Miss (L/n)!" Dr. Loomis retorted sternly, looking back at you one more time with an unusual amount of desperation and distress. "Did Michael say anything strange to you? Did he tell you what he was going to do last night? What were his future plans?" He lightly inquired.
"W-Well...He...He said..." Your voice got caught in your throat, your shyness and hurt causing a sharp lump to form.
"What did Michael say to you?" Dr. Loomis pressed in a gentler tone, clasping his hands on the table as he patiently waited.
"He said that...that he loved me. That he...That he killed Wesley. So...So that he couldn't bully us anymore. And that we...we were a family." That was it. That moment when you couldn't hold the shaky sobs back any longer. The cries threaten to choke you and drown you into a dark ocean of despair. And all you could do now was burst into nothing but wounded tears.
Days passed as you stayed off school; too tired and drained to even attempt going to class. Why did it matter though? You wouldn't even be able to sit down without thinking of Michael. It was almost heartbreaking. To remember sharing lunch together, talking about favourite horror movies together, playing catch together...remembering the last four days...But then, all those memories twisted into the creepy version of Michael you'd seen on Halloween. Your mother wanted to move somewhere else, Dr. Loomis wanted you to visit Michael - so he could see the friendship between the two of you, and you just wanted to be left alone.
