"And your conclusion...?"
"My conclusion was that nothing could be done for him - and that he was no longer human - but a creature of pure evil.""But everything else you wrote was true, right...?" You nervously questioned, shutting the book closed with one hand and holding your phone with the other. "About Michael Myers...? About the little girl...?"
"Everything written in that book is one-hundred percent honest. I just wish that I could've done more for Michael...But alas, he's not a human anymore. He's...He's something else entirely." Dr. Loomis told you truthfully, his tone grave as he released a sigh.
"So the little girl..." You echoed with uneasiness, clutching your phone tighter than ever and praying that it wasn't you.
"That little girl is you, (Y/n). You were the ten-year-old girl I met when I got called in to meet Michael, and when I wanted to speak to you for the first time - your mother denied my visit." Dr. Loomis clarified solemnly, fear washing through your veins whilst you wondered how to respond.
"I...I see..." You stammered faintly, staring down at the table and not being able to even face Alina properly. "Do you know why she wouldn't let you visit, or...?"
"Oh, (Y/n), this is—"
"My name is Dr. Samuel Loomis and I'm a child psychologist. It's a pleasure to meet you, (Y/n)."
"Hello.""Would you mind if I talked to you?"
"What about?"
"About Michael. You knew him, didn't you? From what I've been told, you two were friends." "Is that true...? Did you know him...?""That's enough, Dr. Loomis! You're going to upset her!"
"I need to know Miss (L/n)!" "Did Michael say anything strange to you? Did he tell you what he was going to do last night? What his future plans were?" Ah, so you did know him."I think you know why." Dr. Loomis dryly responded, his reply causing you to feel slightly embarrassed as you released a feeble laugh.
"Yeah...I think so too." You timidly replied, seeing his point while you still wanted to know more. "My mother's always been the rather defensive type. But regardless, I'd still like to know what else you know. About my past, and...and about this strange Michael Myers..."
"Well I'm afraid I can't disclose much information over the phone, but would you mind if I save your number...?" Dr. Loomis asked professionally, his polite mannerisms making him sound more and more sympathetic. "That way we can agree on a proper time and date."
"That'd be great, thank you!" You agreed happily, your expression clearing after he'd suggested said idea. "Hopefully we can meet up soon. Because I don't know about you, but I don't appreciate being kept in the dark. Nor do I appreciate being known as "The Girl Who Escaped Haddonfield"."
"Ah...My apologies for that." Dr. Loomis awkwardly chuckled, sounding bad on your behalf as you both began to wrap up the phone call. "It wasn't my intent to make blood money over the town's history, or my biography. Please believe me on that."
"I do, I do!" You quickly reassured him, wanting to keep things civil between you two. "All I want is to find out what happened fifteen years ago. And that's it."
"How about we schedule our appointment for tomorrow morning then? I'd be more than happy to text you the details." Dr. Loomis offered kindly - his helpful attitude being hugely appreciated.
"Sure! Where at...?" You curiously inquired, Alina frowning in confusion whilst your question peaked her interest.
"Perhaps Haddonfield's local café. Have you learnt where it is yet?" Dr. Loomis commented casually, his comment causing you to smile with playful amusement.
"Yeah, no worries. I'm hanging out there right now as a matter of fact." You brought up softly, tapping your other hand's fingernails against the table as you kept speaking.
"Excellent! It's been a pleasure hearing from you, (Y/n). I can't wait to meet you in person after all this time." Dr. Loomis lightly decided, both of you saying a cheery goodbye before he hung up.
"Sooooo~" Alina hummed mischievously, wanting to hear the outcome as soon as humanly possible. "How'd it go~?"
"He promised to explain everything tomorrow morning, right here." You told her with reassurance, relief flooding your heart while you calmed down a bit.
"That's good. I mean, now you can at least figure out what's going on and how you're involved." She gently acknowledged, finishing her drink and attempting to sound positive.
"At least now I'll finally understand why everyone's SO excited by my sudden return." You dramatically sighed, paying for your drink. "I don't enjoy being treated like some sort of famous survivor from a horror movie."
"Why don't we just go home?" Alina suggested comfortingly, noticing how worn-out you felt and doing her best to soothe the situation. "After all, you're not meeting up with this Dr. Loomis guy until tomorrow morning, right? We still have this evening."
"True, true..." You wearily smiled, standing up with your blonde-haired friend before leaving the cafe. "I guess I'll just complete a couple more covers and distract myself until then."
"Good idea." Ali complimented loyally, shooting a warm smile of her own and acting sociable. "In that case I'll design a few pieces of digital artwork. Wouldn't want to fall behind or anything."
"Well don't worry about tonight, I can cook dinner for both of us." You politely promised, feeling that it was only fair considering she'd cooked for you the previous night.
"Are you sure? I really don't mind—"
"Of course I don't mind! Besides, you did it for me last night, right? It wouldn't be fair if I didn't return the favour." You pointed out with a helpful perspective.
"Why don't we take turns then?" Alina thoughtfully recommended, the two of you reaching the building's hallway a few moments later. "I'll do one night, and then you do the next. That way, we both get one night to sit back and relax. Does that sound good to you?"
"Mmhm. That sounds good to me." You playfully responded, giving her a swift hug once she'd opened her front door. "Text you in a bit then, Ali."
"Alrighty, see you in a bit then!" She repeated lightheartedly, hugging you in return before heading towards her room.
After you'd done the same, you sat on the edge of your bed and breathed out; running a hand through your hair whilst you wondered what the Hell was going on. Meeting up with a psychiatrist to discuss his dark discoveries. Finding out that you were somewhat involved in a major incident that took place fifteen years ago. And worst of all— You stopped for a second, flipping open your laptop and connecting to the apartment building's Wifi so you could use Google. Worst of all...You had no idea what to cook for dinner. Ah well, you could always just search for something simple. Yeah...So that's what you did - deciding to go for one of your favourite dishes and enjoy dinner for tonight.
And as the time passed, Ali absolutely loved what you'd cooked once you invited her over to your own apartment; calling this evening's meal delicious while she ate it all and looked extremely satisfied. That in the end, made you feel the same relief from earlier - pleased by her relaxed reaction and growing relatively less concerned about tomorrow's meet-up. Still though...even with Alina's company, you continued to feel unnerved and uncomfortable. But how could you not...? After all, that book you'd read about yourself...encountering Dr. Loomis...Meeting that teenage boy in the library and learning about "Kaitlyn's cat"...Whatever was going on, this certainly wasn't the "quiet, little town" you thought it was. Nope...Not in the slightest.
