"I will tickle you." "So—"
"Okay, okay, I'm awake!"

"So how come you needed me awake so early...?" Ali sleepily complained, sipping a glass of juice after she'd invited you into her apartment's kitchen room and watched you make yourself a cup of coffee; the blonde girl half-asleep still.

"It's not that early. It's 11am." You pointed out with a light laugh, holding up your mobile phone and showing her the time. "And it's a Monday. So c'mon, we may as well start our jobs and start designing."

"Like I told you though, I don't need to start my work until 12pm." Stifling a yawn, she ran a hand through her hair and took another sip of her juice, sitting down at the table while she slowly but surely woke up.

"So what goes down in the peaceful town of Haddonfield...?" You questioned with immense curiosity, sitting down at the table yourself and facing your best friend.

"Nothing much. The rare news report, the occasional, interesting announcement here and there..." Ali mused thoughtfully, finishing her drink before she grabbed a bowl of cereal and poured some milk into it.

"Is the dark history about this town true...?" You interestedly wondered, suddenly feeling awkward about asking such a strange question. "Y'know, fifteen years ago...?"

"You mean about the little boy murdering his older sister and step-father on Halloween...?" Alina dryly brought up, continuing to eat her cereal and eyeing you casually. "Well...you have to know that there's polite talk and pub talk. The truth lies somewhere in-between."

"Okay, so what's polite talk?" You inquired pleasantly, wanting to be respectful and learn the town's past.

"The polite talk is that the little boy was misunderstood...mischievous...mysterious..." Ali told you hesitantly, swirling her spoon around her bowl and trying to be mellow about it. "He made friends with another little girl who moved here - best friends in fact - and within a few days he grew even more attached. He wanted to spend Halloween with her, but he got detention on that same day."

"Oh, I see...What's the pub talk then...?" You quizzed curiously - suddenly feeling awkward about asking.

"That the little boy wasn't so nice." The blonde girl spoke in a serious tone, staring down at her bowl of cereal and losing her playful personality. "He became possessive of the little girl, fighting for her safety, and even killing the school bully for her."

"—And when I think about how Wesley grabbed your hair the other day...I'm just happy that he's dead."
"Wh-What did you do to Wesley—?"
"I made sure he'd never bully you again."

"What happened to the little boy...?" You fearfully asked further, the town's cold-blooded history sounding oddly familiar to you.

"Apparently, he got sent to Smith's Grove Sanitarium. Shortly after that, he killed a nurse and so the mother took her own life." Ali explained uneasily, plainly finding Haddonfield's history to be somewhat uncomfortable.

"Sweetie, what are you doing out here? It's freezing."
"Michael, what's going on? Who's this? Are you alright?"
"Michael, answer me." "Give me the baby."
"Michael, what is going on?"
"Answer me."

"(Y/n)? Are you feeling alright?" Alina's voice reminded you of a previous person's questions, the blonde growing concerned. "I didn't scare you because of a simple rumour, did I? After all, I don't even know if Haddonfield's background is really true or not."

"Of course not." Flashing a false smile, you swigged a few sips of coffee down and woke yourself up; making some breakfast a few minutes later. "Guess I'm just...waking up."

"Besides, you said the truth lies somewhere in-between..." You carried on uncertainly, wanting to learn more about the town and the little boy. "So...where does the truth lie then...?"

Ali stayed quiet for a moment or two, the blonde girl musing over how to answer - or what to say. Then, she cleared her throat. "That the little boy was odd. Just...odd. His family was broken and the mother was an exotic dancer at Haddonfield's only stripper bar, the "Rabbit in Red Lounge"."

"But...if you really want to know, my mom works as an exotic dancer, so she's usually too busy to even notice me."

"S-Seriously...?" Stammering slightly, your surprise increased a little; not expecting to hear more than one voice answer you.

"Yeah, no kidding. What a screwed-up family, am I right?" Ali messed around mockingly, finishing off her juice and trying to make a joke out of it. "Obsessed little boy, drunken step-father most of the time, exotic dancer for a mother...I mean, it's bloody insane."

"So what happened to the little girl...?" You timidly quizzed, completing your breakfast and growing even more curious.

"They say her mother panicked and moved away to live with family." She said with an awkward tone, "A child psychologist even wrote a book about it. I think it was called something like, "The Devil's Eyes"...? I never read it though, so I never knew the little girl's name. I can always pick you up a copy though, if you're interested."

"I'd usually say no thanks, but go on then." You playfully laughed, finding her offer to be pretty funny. "We can read it together sometime."

"Oh Hell yeah!" Laughing with you, Alina nudged you in the side and grinned; the atmosphere lightening up while the darkness of the brutal background brightened. "We can visit the local library in a bit then - if you really want to."

"Sure thing, I'd love to explore the town." You agreed at once, sending her a smile before stretching. "But maybe I'd better get dressed first. I don't know about you, but I'm not the kind of person who wanders around town in their pyjamas."

"Depends on what mood I'm in, honestly." Ali thought aloud breezily, her comment causing you both to laugh a second time.

"Yeah, sure. Be right back." Rolling your eyes sarcastically, you walked back towards your apartment and found some fresh clothes; brushing your hair and using some deodorant a few minutes afterwards before heading back.

"Well then, are you ready to head out into the lovely little town of Haddonfield...?" Alina joked teasingly, having gotten dressed and gotten ready herself at the same time that you had.

"Mmhm!" Taking her up on her book proposal, you headed towards her front door before whirling around to face her. "Ready to show your friend from Florida around~?"

"Oh, absolutely~" She answered affectionately, blowing you an air-kiss and opening the door a few seconds after. "Time to learn about Haddonfield's dark and mysterious past~"

"It can't be that bad." You wryly remarked, following Ali out into the street you were both living on. "I mean, murders and robberies take place everywhere, right?"

"True, but...Don't you think it's weird that one little boy grew obsessed over one little girl...?" Alina mentioned with a creeped-out expression, both of you walking down the road and leaving the apartment building behind.

"Oh please, every little kid has a crush on someone." You retaliated in return; your voice still dry as you raised your eyebrows.

"They don't kill for their crushes, (Y/n). That's just...creepy." Shaking her head, the blonde-haired girl disagreed with your statement and hoisted her bag strap higher up her shoulder; looking moderately freaked out.

"Okay, okay, fair-play. But everyone's thought about killing someone at some point or another, you can't deny that." Trying to reason with her, you suddenly wondered why you were attempting to defend the little boy - feeling weirdly sorry for him. But...But why...?
