"(Y/n)...? Is everything going okay in there...?" Alina's voice drifted through the living room door, your blonde best friend patiently waiting for you to reply whilst she gave three polite knocks. "Everything seems a bit quiet...And it's been a while...You guys are all alright, aren't you...?"

"Mmhm...!" You replied in a fake-friendly fashion, your tiredness and weariness overwhelming you while you did your best to hold on. "I'm just taking everything in."

"Anyway, I believe this belongs to you. Well, the library to be exact." Releasing a casual chuckle, your stepfather picked up Dr. Loomis's original novel from the coffee table and held it towards you, indicating for you to take it before Gabby could look down or ask about said story.

"Oh...? What's that...?" Gabby wondered with interest, Alina entering the room as you took the borrowed book out of his hands.

"Oh, that? That's just a book (Y/n) and I checked out from the library." Ali told her truthfully, helping you out as she raised her hand and waved at you all.

"Oooh, what kind of book is it...? Is it a horror book? A fairytale? A comic book? A cookbook? Oh, I know, it's poetry, isn't it...!? You've always liked that type of stuff." Growing excited, Gabby clapped her hands together and stopped glancing down, deciding to just question you about the book instead.

"Uh, sure. That one." Not even knowing what category she'd thrown you into, you just went along with it - facing your direction back towards your father. "So yeah...In the end, I think I'd like to stay in this apartment, next to Ali's...In Haddonfield."

"You're really deciding to stay here...!?" Ali exclaimed with her own excitement, curling her arms around you before dragging you into a tight hug of her own.

"Well, yes...I never said I was going to—"
"Oh, I'm so relieved, I was really worried that after Halloween you wouldn't want to stay, but—"

"—Um, Ali..." Nervously nudging her side, you shot her an urgent look before tilting your head in Gabby's direction. But—

"Why wouldn't (Y/n) want to stay...? Did something happen after all...? Is she actually in danger...?" Your younger sister worried over you wildly; holding one of your hands with both of hers while bit her lip.

"Relax, relax, I'm not in any danger. I promise. Halloween's over now anyway. Maybe you should start looking forward to Christmas." Thinking fast, you shifted Gabby's attention over to December 25th and away from the present situation at hand.

"Ooh, that's not a bad idea! Dad, Dad! Do you know what I want for Christmas yet...!?" Gabby asked cheerfully, looking over towards your stepfather and lightening the atmosphere.

"I'm not a mindreader, Gabs. You're going to have to tell me before I can find out what you want." Shaking his head, he playfully ruffled her hair and smiled, plainly amused by her sudden mood-swing.

"Well, I'm grateful that you've dropped by and everything, but..." You trailed off uncertainly, feeling hesitant about what you wanted to discuss. Then again... "Would you mind if I had the next few days to myself...? Just to let this sink in and everything...? No offence Gabs, I'm just a little...stressed, still."

"D'aww...Really...?" The dark-haired girl sighed with slight disappointment; giving you one last final hug before saying goodbye.

"Believe me, your mother will be just fine. All you have to do is give her some time, she'll come around." Your stepfather comforted fondly, wrapping his arms around you before he said goodbye.
