"(Y/n)! Welcome back!" Alina's voice unexpectedly called out, the blonde girl opening her door a minute after your text message and therefore calming the frigid atmosphere down.
"Oh um, hey there, Ali." You awkwardly greeted, accepting the hug she gave you as you wrapped your arms around her. "How'd your day go...? Everything alright...?"
"It doesn't matter about my day...!" Ali exclaimed in excitement, snatching up your wrist as she practically dragged you into her apartment's living room. "What matters is about your day...!"
"Wha-huh...?" You questioned with a confused look - not expecting such a reaction from her. "What are you talking about...?"
"What was the meeting with this "Dr. Loomis" guy like at the cafe...? Did he describe Michael to you...? Were you the same (Y/n) as the (Y/n) in the book...?" Ali probed curiously, sitting down opposite you while the two of you both sat on the sofas.
"He was um...nice." You briefly told her, only spilling part of the truth and instead deciding to go with blurred honesty. "And yes, I was the same (Y/n) as told in the book."
"That's SO cool!" Alina praised happily, now clasping her hands together and looking extremely pleased with herself.
"Cool...? Cool...!? That's terrible news...!" You blurted out tearfully, hiding your face in your hands and suddenly losing your composure. "If I really am the (Y/n) in the book, then how come I don't remember any of it, huh...?"
" "Recovery is a process. It takes time. It takes patience. It takes everything you've got." " Ali soothingly spoke, doing her best to calm you down and comfort you at the same time.
"Okay, and...?" You fired back in return, trying not to seem rude and feeling hurt by her advice all at the same time. "Your point being...?"
"My point being is that your thoughts are purposely acting over-the-top. Michael's locked away somewhere, isn't he...?" She cleverly pointed out - reminding you about what Dr. Loomis said.
"Michael is currently being kept in the care of Smith's Grove Sanitarium, in Warren County. He's been permanently incarcerated. So I wouldn't worry about your safety, (Y/n). Michael won't be leaving Smith's Grove anytime soon. Not when he's got himself a life sentence." That piece of information calmed you down a little - even causing you to smile.
"Yes...Yes, he is."
"Well then, exactly. He's not going anywhere." Alina calmingly told you, grasping your hands across the coffee table and giving them a gentle squeeze. "Believe me, (Y/n). The past stays in the past for a reason."
"But what if he somehow breaks free...?" You asked anxiously, biting your lip whilst you shifted from foot-to-foot. "Something tells me that I should be on my guard, just in case."
"It's true that "Stagnating air is common foreshadowing that something terrible is about to happen." " Ali's voice swiftly switched for a moment - to a more stressed-out one - as she cleared her throat, almost relating to said quote on some level.
"You sound like you've learnt from experience." You cautiously commented; feeling somewhat guilty for bringing this whole topic up. "Have you, Alina...? Have you learnt from experience...? Did something happen that you're not telling me...?"
"I-It doesn't matter...!" Ali panicked in a pained tone, standing up before she decided to speak again. "It's my turn to cook for us tonight, isn't it...?"
"Well yes, but—"
"—I'd better get cooking and begin for this evening. It's already starting to get moderately late, and I'm not sure we can call it an "early evening" anymore." She added hurriedly; pointing her finger towards the darkened sky and indicating the current weather.
