1. Why did God instruct Moses to build a sanctuary?

"Let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them." Exodus 25:8.

2. What was offered in the sanctuary?

"where gifts and sacrifices are offered...." Hebrews 9:9.

3. How many parts does this sanctuary have beside the courts?

"The veil shall separate the holy place from the most holy for you." Exodus 26:33.

4. What was in the holy place?

"For a tabernacle was prepared. In the first part were the lampstand, the table, and the show bread; which is called the Holy Place" Hebrews 9:2.

"He put the golden altar in the Tent of Meeting before the veil." Exodus 40:26.

5. What was in the most holy place?

"After the second veil was the tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies, having a golden altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which was a golden pot holding the manna, Aaron's rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant." Hebrews 9:3, 4.

6. In this sanctuary, where was God to meet with Israel?

"You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the covenant that I will give you. There I will meet with you, and I will tell you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the covenant, all that I command you for the children of Israel" Exodus 25:21, 22.

7. What was in the ark that was under the mercy seat?

"He wrote on the tablets, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which Yahweh spoke to you on the mountain out of the middle of the fire in the day of the assembly; and Yahweh gave them to me. I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tablets in the ark which I had made; and there they are as Yahweh commanded me." Deuteronomy 10:4, 5.

8. When did the priest minister in the holy place of the sanctuary?

"Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the services.' Hebrews 9:6.

9. Who alone went into the most holy place, how often, and for what purpose?

"But into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offers for himself, and for the errors of the people." Hebrews 9:7.

10. What were sinners desiring pardon instructed to do?

"If anyone of the common people sins unwittingly, in doing any of the things which Yahweh has commanded not to be done, and is guilty, if his sin which he has sinned is made known to him, then he shall bring for his offering a goat, a female without defect, for his sin which he has sinned. He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and kill the sin offering in the place of burnt offering." Leviticus 4:27-29.

11. What was done with the blood of the offering?

"The priest shall take some of its blood with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar. Leviticus 4:30.

NOTE: After a person discovered his sin by the law which demanded the death of the transgressor, he first brought his offering, then he confessed his sin while laying his hands on, the head of the animal, thus, in figure, transferring his sin to the animal. Then the person slew the innocent animal in the court, or outer part of the sanctuary, and the priest put its blood on the horns of the altar and poured it at the foot of the altar. In this way were sins pardoned, and, in the typical service, transferred to the sanctuary.

12. To whom did the sacrificed lamb of the sanctuary ritual point to?

"The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, 'Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!' " John 1:29.

"Nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption." Hebrews 9:12.

13. At the death of Christ, what miraculous occurrence signified that the priestly work and services of the earthly sanctuary have ended?

"Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit. Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split" Matthew 27:50, 51.

NOTE: Old Testament sacrificial system had been fulfilled. Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed in our place-the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. In heaven, He enters the sanctuary there to begin His final work as our Great High Priest.

14. What is Jesus doing now in heaven?

"We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a servant of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man." Hebrews 8:1, 2.

"But Christ having come as a high priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation." Hebrews 9:11.

15. What is the relation of the earthly sanctuary with the heavenly?

"Who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses was warned by God when he was about to make the tabernacle, for he said, 'See, you shall make everything according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain: " Hebrews 8:5.
